Default Free AC Compressor Brackets

Hey guys, I need some help and I’m willing to give a lucky guy some free stuff in return.

Here’s the deal. I had the same problem many of you have had with LSX AC compressor clearance. So a couple of my cohorts and I have developed a bracket system that will install a Sanden compressor just outside the passenger-side valve cover. But we need what software people call a “beta” tester. The first set we made are running great on my baby LS2 but now we need someone with a Camaro/Firebird LS1 to test fit and run our brackets just to make sure we haven’t overlooked anything.

Here’s what you’ll get from us:
1. Two main compressor support brackets.
2. One small support bracket
3. Spacer tubes
4. Nuts and bolts
5. Smooth idler pulley which you will swap onto your existing tensioner and then use the tensioner pulley as an idler.
6. All components are 6061 aluminum and will look good against your aluminum heads. (See attached photos).
7. We’ll send a set of installation instructions. (You could probably put the assembly together without instructions but they will help with a couple of the bolts.)

We’ll give one set to whoever best meets the following:

1. You have a running LS1 engine with factory F-body driver side brackets.
2. You have or can get the recommended Sanden AC compressor.
3. You’re willing to confirm the serpentine belt length using some instructions we’ll give you. Oh, and you’re willing to buy the belt.
4. You’re willing to take some digital photos and share them with us.
5. You’re willing to write a short critique, sharing both the bad and the good.
6. You’d be willing to let us use your positive comments in promotional materials.

If you’re interested, send me a PM. Tell me about your project and why you’d like to be our beta tester. We’ll choose based on who best meets the above criteria and who tells the best story. Thanks for your help.

I've got a 3rd gen RX7 with an f-body LS1 in it. If it fits well RX7 guys that want to build turbo systems might be interested since it's basically impossible to keep AC and put a turbo on an LSX 3rd gen RX7. Do you have some measurements on where the compressor is located in relation to the block? The compressor looks like it hangs way out there and it'd be nice to know if it would contact my strut tower. Just shoot me a PM if you want me to try it out for ya.

I have some hands on experience with Geezer's brackets and they are excellent and reasonable. He and Ken are great people to work with, you won't be sorry.

Default More bracket info and pix

Thanks for the PM's and responses. We should be able to pick our beta tester shortly.

The pix will help show how far out the compressor sits from the valve cover. We wanted to leave room to remove the valve cover and also to give access to the oil cap. I'll post the actual dimensions later.

I've had a couple of questions about a truck version. We're looking at it but the challenge is that the idler would have to stick out so far and we're concerned about how to support it properly. We'll keep you posted.

You might want get your hands on the oil filler stand-off that f-bodies use before you send something out for beta testing. The guys with 99-02 f-body valvecovers and coilpacks (vetts as well more than likely) have to run the stand-off because the cap contacts the coil rack without it. It doesn't look like you'll have a problem from the pics, but it'd be easy to check to make sure.

Could that be used on the truck version and then just spaced to make up for the the longer crank pulley and accessories?
thanks
