The LQ4 6.0 Datsun 280Z Build
#41
I've been looking at this post for a while and I just wanted to post and say that this is THE sickest 280Z I have ever seen! My friend had a white 280Z that was all original, he was in the Navy and took it with him to Guam and ended up having to leave it there when he got out of the service, he still beats himself up over it. He's looking to build one like you have so I forwarded him some pictures of it and he's very jealous of you right now!

Are the headlights on the model car covered in plastic? you know, there were Z's that actually came with those. If you like them, you can find them lol.
Your car looks GREAT! My friend has a 1978 280Z we put a 355ci SBC and a built TH350 in. Ima have to show him this thread.

Unfortunately I'm waiting for spring to show up.. at that point I'm buying hptuners and a laptop and I'm going to tune it myself.. sick of shelling out money for other peoples tunes. Other than that its basically finished parts and Fab wise.. can't wait to have it out next summer! Thanks to everybody for the kind words as well!

im about to start my turbo Q4 build VERY soon, if i get stuck would you mind lending some advice or possibly a hand, going to need a gooooooood tuner when im done , was looking at prolly have Mike Norris do the tune !

I had Norris start working on the tune but we ran into WAY too many issues. Since the car's new setup is mostly based off of trial and error, suspension - rear end - turbo - brakes, everything, I needed to be able to drive the car to work the bugs out, but the car wouldn't run with injectors/no MAF/wrong MAP... all the bugs reared their ugly heads in his shop.
First the plugs fouled, then battery died, then a radiator hose came off while he first got it idling - spraying on a LS3 swapped 50's BENTLEY.... FML!!!, THEN couldn't get it in reverse to get it on the dyno, so we pushed it, ( reverse lockout solenoid wouldn't push through? used to..) THEN, while making the first pull on the dyno, the suspension had settled so far from my initial height that the CV axle pulled out of the cup, and made a grease MESS... and had to call it quits because it tore up the CV cup clip. All in all the first initial "drive" SUCKED. Now all of those bugs are worked out and it starts, runs, drives, but needs the tune finished badly.
Hopefully the next trip in the spring back to Norris wont be so HORRID.
And JKsmith - PM me anytime ya need anything!
