I moved 330 miles from my shop so I have had a pause in the build. The good news is my new shop construction has started so maybe it will be done and my tools moved in January and I can get started again.
I understand long pauses in the build cycles, as I spent about 900 hours building my Ultima over 5 years. I either didn't have the time, or didn't have the funds.

There were about 2600 hours put into the Super Lite over a 30-day period. It was 4 - 5 guys working around the clock to build this kit...pretty much from scratch. The chassis arrived with the harness installed, and the proper motor and trans mounts, and those components sitting the frame. There was some work done on the switch panel, the fuel and oil systems. We had some stretches of over 40 hours. As I was volunteering my time, I only did that twice. We were building right through the start of the race and didn't get on the track until about 30 minutes after. Proper upright mounts were being machined at the track for installation Saturday morning.

We had quite an interesting event and learned a lot. It was wet most of the 25 hours, so not the best environment for a "quick-built" car. The factory-sealed Bosch ECU actually filled completely with water! No idea how. It took us many hours to diagnose and repair that. Ultimately, we think a bent or burnt valve took us out and we didn't finish. Diagnosis yet to be done. It may have been that way when we received the car, as it never ran quite like we expected.

Still, we raised somewhere in the neighborhood of $37-$42k for the Semper Fi Fund, which was a good outcome. People made more more contributions in the form of confirmed commitments than contributions per lap, had we run all laps from start-to-finish.

Love these cars!

My buddy Dave is working on a 20B turbo powered one with a G50-52 transaxle. That transaxle is approx 50lbs lighter than the Ford GT Ricardo unit.

Here are some pics of his car as it arrived....

Wow, that thing looks nice. How the heck are they routing the exhaust though? Seems like it'd be pretty much straight off the headers to get it to exit before the wheel like it does now.

Yes!!!

The factory SLC won the NASA SU class championship at Mid-Ohio for 2011. It set a new lap record, won pole and walked away from the competition. It had an LS3 based engine giving up a couple hundred HP to its competition. You can see reruns on www.speedcasttv.com saturday NASA races at about 200 minutes in the recording.

Finally have a shop to put my project in! I still need to install the air compressor and rigid tubing, finish the two-post lift, couple of cabinets back-ordered, etc. But at least I can turn a wrench again.....

Scott,

I know you will be running the 25 hours @ Thunderhill again this year. Any updates on your SLC, changes etc.? I assume you got a replacement for the Bosch ECU at the least.

AWSOME looking rides!!!! Do you guys run into emissions problems or do you run all the emissions? I know I've hear that kit cars like the cobras have to run emissions so like a EROD engine if buying new!

A fellow SLC owner has his car registered in Texas. I'm not certain whether he lives in Dallas County and must through emissions checks. He runs CATS, etc. on an LS376, GMPP ECU.
