temp sender wiring help I want to use the factory temp sending unit for my auto meter gauge. I have an 01 LS1, it has a 2 wire temp sending unit. Can I get a 3 wire sending unit from a 98 and hook the 3rd lead to my auto meter gauge? If so does anyone have the wiring schematics for the 98 sending unit. Which pins go to what lead? Thanks.

I`m not going to say that you cannot use a 98 sending unit, but I am going to bet that if you do the reading on the gauge will not be accurate.

Why not use the correct autometer sender and put it in the extra hole in the pass head

I would guess that the most cars use a resistance based temp sender arrangement, so it will probably make the gauge move, but as far as accuracy your guess is as good as or better than mine.
