Interesting. I did the Buick V6 in my Geo drag car and am doing a 5.3 into an old Volvo delivery truck now that will ultimately haul around said Geo.

It's gone 9.21 @ 157 and obviously has some traction issues that the ignurt crew cheif is working on. Believe it or not, there's quite a bit more power there but it's already spun the tires at half track hard enough to stain my drawers (went through the eight mile lights at 123 nearly sideways).

One thing's for sure, there isn't alot of real estate under the hood of a car originally designed for a 3 cylinder but at 1600# from the factory (and very slippery aerodynamically speaking) it makes a good candidate IMHO.

Wow Chris! I all of your posts i never new what your car looked like. It looks a smaller version of the GT40 which is probably one of the coolest looking cars of all times in my opinion. Where did you get the kit?

Nashty, I was down at the track that night when you saved it at the 1/8th. We all about **** our pants when the *** end started comming around, couldnt imagine what it felt like in a short wheel base car like that. The car looks sweet with the flat black finish. Will have to say Hi to ya if I see the car down at Cordova.

I thought someone was condering a swap into a Triumph TR3 or TR6? Those are pretty light. What about a Triumph Spitfire? I had on back in 1978 and it weighed about 1800 or so.

hi shawn
the original was designed and built by the same people who did the GT40, Eric Broadly at Lola and his team. they wanted a race version of the GT40 project with no road use limitations.

thanks! the company designed the chassis to take the LS series engines so its all straight bolt up to some extent. their cobra replica is lighter than mine i believe and runs an LS2. there is also another T70 replica they did with an LS7 dry sump running 640bhp and 590ft/lb at the same kerb weight as mine, i've been out in it and the acceleration is fantastic, like a big power bike.

yes Gardner Douglas sell loads of cobras, and have done 26 Lola T70 replicas. not sure if any have gone to the US, but a couple went to Europe etc. kit price (minus engine/box) is about £23,000 which gets you about 90% of the bits you need. I went for a 2nd hand LS1 and a 2nd hand Porsche 911 G50 5 speed gearbox, some of the customers specified LS2 (new) and the LS7 (big money here) plus the 6 speed porsche GT2 box, which takes the completed buitl price upto circa £47,000 when finished.

Im partial to the lsx rx7, as I am doing one. Not lighter then the ones mentioned, but 600-800 lbs lighter then an f body, and more room in the engine bay with the lsx. Cheap to swap too. For a second gen rx7 its 1200 for the full kit from grannies. bout 2600-2700 lbs after the lsx swap...just my .02 though

Phil over at Locostusa.com forums is building an ls1 powered lotus rep. A guy named Mazda has one also, its an ls6 powered lotus 7 replica he calls a rotus. Has z06 wheels, pretty trick. Both are well under 2000lbs.

That's me
At last weight measurement it weighed in at 1700 lbs. It has gained some weight with bigger wheels and brakes - then lost some with lighter gas tank and some other odds and ends... Now under massive frame surgery to lower center of gravity even more and move it back, little more leg room, much stronger roll bar, etc...

Hope to have her back on the road again before end of june, and this time she'll go to the strip at least once to see what she can do.

BTW, I just have a LS1 with AFR 205 heads - up until this point running stock exhaust manifolds, but hope to make some custom long tubes by June and retune. She only had 385 at the wheels... I'm hoping for 40 or so more horses.
