Who sells PCms without needing a VIN?

I'm having a hard time finding a used 99-up M6 PCM. Who sells PCMs without the need of a VIN or a massive core charge?

GM PCMs need a VIN programmed into because some of the programming is keyed to the VIN, and because it needd to match the VIN in the BCM in stock applications. If you aren't using a BCM, just pick any VIN that matches your application (ie, if using an '99 F-body engine and harness, use a '99 Fbody VIN).

What does the BCM do ? What needs to be done if it's not used? I have one that came with the engine, but being new to the LSX, I haven't a clue what it's for.

BCM= body control module (body stuff)
PCM= power train control module (engine trans)
