LS1 without power steering on 240sx
Hello, I've installed my LS1 on the 240sx, and I can't find a damn Power steering thing for the LS1... in lebanon this is the only LS1 availible and I found it on a Saudi Car that Crashed, everything else is a DAMN LT1... So my question is, can I bypass the Power Steering on the LS1 and continue without it? cause my only problem is the CRANK PULLEY, I find the belt not really going around the crank pulley well... its like a little more than 1/4 of the circle... not half of the crank pulley is covered by the belt, only a little more than 1/4...
and for the pulley on the alternator Bracket... we can change it with a another one that has a grained surface instead of the flat one...
So what do you guys think? cause theres no way I can find a damn LS1 power steering assembly here... and if anyone has an idea if another car has the same Power steering assembly please give me hints... im in NEED...

the pump bolts directly to that bracket that's on the head already. You could get a power steering pump from the parts store for a gto maybe and make a mount for the fluid res. I say the gto because it has a remote res. and you could put it pretty much anywhere above the pump and it should work....

thanks jw33, I thought I was missing the bracket also... but what am really asking is would a trail blazer's or envoy's power steering assembly work on my car? one of the more common cars to find... cause here in my country "Lebanon" we don't have 5.7 sport cars... all they tune are BMW's nothing else... so will anything from any other car bolt on to my LS1...? (exclude: GTO, Firebird, Camaro, and Holden) im asking about the Vortec engines...

Why do you need it? It's going to end up being overpowered and twitchy anyway unless you can get an adjustable pump like a TurnOne pump from the states.
I personally don't use it in my swap (Rx-7) because the manual rack turns fast enough for me. Plus I've heard too many horror stories about no steering feedback at all because of too much line pressure.

The accessories for these engines are highly individualized - internally, the pump from a TrailBlazer / Envoy is probably the same, but the truck accessories are set up for a completely different depth so using one of those would put the pulley out of alignment with the rest.
I can't imagine it's that hard to get a Camaro setup shipped from the US.

but if theres no PS pulley, the belt will be upside down on the Alternator Bracket... So the braided part of the Belt on a smooth surfaced pulley will eat it up...
PLUS, the belt will not be holding the Crank pulley firmly, what I mean is that usually the belt is wrapped around the crank pulley about half way... without the PS, its nearly 1/4 wrapped around the Crank pulley isn't that not safe....?!

Run it like this with a 52.5" six rib belt:
Thats the way I run mine and I don't have any problem. You can also get a ribbed idler pulley from http://www.hotrodlane.cc/ and a 54.25" six rib belt Gates part# K060535 then run it like this:

the second way is how I ran mine but the thought of seeing the crank pulley only that much in contact with the belt sounded a little unsafe to me... so did the water pump pulley... but If you tried it I guess it works...

And I think that answers that question too.
