Default radiator hose lookup

I found this link today that'll left you search for Dayco radiator hoses by inlet and outlet diameter, and show you a diagram of what the hose looks like. It may not find the perfect hose, but it may get you a short list of stuff to look at when you hit Autozone or the like:

http://www.mvreader.com/multiview/da...bgDimHoses=1&l=

You can take the Dayco part # from there and go to rockauto.com and search by part # to see what it fits.

Nice site link. We went to the local parts store, told them we were doing a swap, and "could we go back and look at the hoses?" All 3 of the shops let us look as long as we needed to. Boy, yo' head will be spinnin' after looking at hundreds of hoses ... we did find what we needed: (2) different hoses spliced for the upper hose and (2) different hoses for spliced for the lower.

It is a pain to find hoses; fortunately Farm & Fleet has them out in the aisles so that's where I always go.

Most of the parts stores will have manufactor catalogs (Goodyear, Gates, etc), there is usually a listing chart that will list there hose by size and with either a picture or drawing of the shape. I looked at the chart 1st in the size Dia.. then when on to shape, got a few numbers and then asked to have the hose pulled from the part numbers..

Problem is they leak, especially if you ever have to take it off and put it back on.

Default Radiator hoses GM A body, Cutlass chevelle

For future GM A body swaps, the radiator hoses I found worked great in my 68 Cutlass. I'd think Chevelle etc would be same..

My radiator is a GM 4-Core and has 1 1/2" in & out. See pics for more info and orientation. The only mods I made to the hoses was to trim their length back by an inch or two.

The lower is a Gates 22437. FIts great, couldn't be any better. The hose includes corrugated plastic cover that may not be necessary. Its 1 1/2" both ends.

The Upper is a Gates 20577. This also fits great other than the motor end could use a reducing bushing as the motor is about 1 1/4". The hose is 1 1/2" both ends Note how nice it moves arouind my intake.

Eric

Good find. thanks for sharing.. I will keep these part numbers around..

I wonder if there is a matching upper in 1 1/4" as my after market Radiator has duel 1 1/2" and 1 1/4" outs.. so I can use the 1 1/4" to match the engine side (as I am doing now.)

thanks..

Do they make a reducing bushing, and is it safe and reliable? Man that does look nice how it routes around there.

Subscribed! This is just good info here!!

Maybe a thread should be stickied with the part numbers/applications people have come up with... Not talking about the took 4 hoses to make 2, but like Eric's - where he has two hoses that fit beautifully and only needed minor trimming to make them work.

Even if there are a dozen or so different hoses that have worked for people, that's easier to dig through than hundreds of hoses that would never work.

...Just a thought...

I know this is an OLD thread but I thought I would update it for you LS swap Monte's out there. Eric Anderson listed the Gates 20577 upper radiator hose as a good A-Body swap hose. I run the C5 front accessory drive with a procharger in my 82 Monte Carlo and the hose fits very good. I have the Dayco one thou. As mentioned above, both end are 1 1/2" so I got Gates radiator hose reducer (26390) for the water pump outlet.

Ive been using the search on summit to find hoses. They have several brands including Dayco and allow for choosing inlet/outlet sizes. The pictures are nice too.

You can take the Dayco part # from there and go to rockauto.com and search by part # to see what it fits.
Is there an updated link?

I could not figure out how to get radiator hoses to show. It seemed specifically set up for hydraulic hoses
