No obstructions or kinks etc.The car starts the first time and runs great. Then it blows up the filter and won't start again, won't make any fuel pressure and shoots all the fuel back to the tank. There is an O ring at the return port of the filter and it is getting deformed and wont seal internally in the filter.I am getting ready to throw a fukn carb on it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Have you tried just applying 12V to the fuel pump without starting the engine?

There are 2 things that I am unsure of that may be causing this.
1.,The distance between the pump and filter is only a couple of inches. Is it too close.
2.,The return line on the tank is smaller than 5/16.Is it causing too much back pressure?

I would have to say both are a possibility, how much smaller is the returns line?

A 5/16 line has .076 square inch area to return pressure, a 1/4 line has .049 sq/in and a 3/16 has .027 sq/in, so you can see that going froma 5/16 to a 3/16 is about a 66 percent reduction, which can create backpressure.

#2 can definitely cause it. Pressure in the system is created by precisely limiting the amount of fuel that is returned to the tank. If there is a restriction then the pressure can be higher. You need to put a gauge on it and see what its doing.

I think it is going to a 1/4 inch on the sending unit.I am going to replace the filter tomorrow and put a rubber 5/16 fuel hose to a jerry can and see if the regulator blows after I start it a couple of times. If you look at the return port on the filter the I.D of the exit port is 1/4 of an inch so I don't know if I am just chasing my tail.Maybe my pump is on steriods or something.I JUST WANT TO DRIVE THIS FUKN THING!!!!!

I just blocked off the return line at the regulator and I am getting over 150 psi at the rail.I crimped the return line just enough to get 60 psi and the car runs great, can I just put a ball valve in the return line or do I need to get a regulator.I think my pump is too much for these filters.?

i have a high pressure walbro 255 with the vette filter on mine and it works great. you have to have a return problem or you have the lines going to the filter mixed up.

the filter end with two lines is the inlet/return, the center line is the return and the outer line is the feed. i had the lines off mine for some reason and i got them switched going back together, it did not run but did not blow up either.

The pumps are higher volume, not higher pressure. The pump is not the issue here. I would double check your return line, as already been suggested.

I'm running the walbro with vet filter reg to a 1/4 return in my stock tank and have had no issues so far. My return line is less than 4 inchs long.
