I'm in on a set of headers for a 1965 El Camino unless anyone knows of someone making mid length headers because my Elky is air bagged.

I checked another thread w pics....
Not seeing them.
I also PM ed a guy who has them installed.
I cannot figure out why they wouldn't...
Except maybe for the carb guys, and so you can choose the position?

That is exactly why the Edelbrock headers do not come with the bungs already in the headers. The bungs themselves are included in the hardware kit and any competent exhaust shop will be able to weld them on, in exactly the location that is best for that particular car.

It sucks because I had a buddy TIG them in and now I will need to have that part of the header recoated. Thinking Jet Hot coat or something like that.
Otherwise they are uncoated and will rust. IMO the bung should already be welded in.
Other thing that I don't like about these headers is that they do not come with the downpipe collector to adapt to your existing exhaust.
Thanks

jim- the price is now 599 from aj-usa. plus you have to pay tax in ca.
i talked to edelbrock the other day, and they do come with the other side of the flange. this has been added and will be on all headers that they ship from now on. as to the o2 bung, i think its totally lame.
we've got 10 now, so as soon as i find out the availability, ill send out some pms.

btw, any downside to installing the o2 bung in the other side of the flange? if so, this will be the only part that needs to be recoated. its the same size (3") as the collector, so youre only installing it about 6" down stream from where you would have put it.
let me know if anybody wants out so i cant formulate the list.
thanks, Tim

You guys are missing the point about the O2 bungs. The O2 sensors do not have to be welded into the header collectors. They can be a little downstream in the exhaust. I think it is great that they are not already welded in place. This gives me the option of positioning them just right in my car in relation to my crossmember etc.... Not lame at all. Very smart.

they are 409 stainless, so although they wont rust through, they may get a little surface rust.
and as i asked, if they can go past the headers and in the collector, that really wouldnt be a problem at all. that would be a small piece that could either be coated, or polished to match my exhaust.

well thats why im glad they coated these. i wonder how much more it would have been for 304. $150? id be willing to pay more for a good set of 304 headers that fit.
weve got 10 now, so unless someone backs out the gp is full. if someone wants to be one the standby list, feel free to post your request.
ive been told that there are enough sets in stock at edelbrock, and the next production will be may 30th. i dont see why we cant get them, but rest assured if there are a few sets that we are short, ill be the first to wait.
