Default Wiring a carbed 5.3 in '81 C10

i have a few basic questions...

My 5.3 is in my truck now. truck is a '81 C10 swb.

I need help with basic wiring ideas as this motor will be carbed.

I need to know how to wire the starter, Alt, and battery.

I am very mechanically inclined but don't much about wiring and electronics!

please help!

TIA

if you are using the edelbrock box, its very simple. Just run the power wire from the harness to a key on power source, run the ground to a ground and hook the tach wire up to the tach (if you have one). As far as the battery goes, run a ground wire to the chassis and the power wire to the starter, then run the wire for the solenoid on the starter to the small terminal on the starter. I cant help you with the alternator wiring without knowing what alternator you are using.

I ran everything of mine to toggle switches. Every wired running from the battery i used 10awg house wire. Everything running to accerssories i used 14-10awg house wiring. For the battery cables i used 0awg THHN house wire. For the terminals i used Tsunami car audio terminals that make it really easy to add extra wires.

For basic -

Positive battery cable to big terninal on starter
negative battery cable to engine block
you need a 12v wire to go to the little ternimal on the starter but only a momentary switch (for just cranking) either from your 'start' position in your ignition or from a toggle switch
you need 12v to come on with you accessory to spply the msd box (or switch)
you need 12v to come on with your accessory to supply your fuel pump (or switch)

I'm assuming you already have the ignition box, i would reccomend the MSD 6010 as it has programmable timing curves used onconjuction with a MAP sensor.

With this box you hook the box to the engines CAM sensor, Crank sensor (behind the starter), both factory coil packs, and a MAP sensor. Then you need to hook up the ground from the box, the 12v wire, and the tach wire. There is also a wire for a timing retard and a 2 step rev limiter but they dont have to be hooked up.

Here are some threads for the alternator. I believe a truck alt is the same as a vette alt.

Alternator is a '03 5.3 truck unit... 2 wire plug and a B+ terminal post.

It looks like i left out some important info...

An MSD 6010 will run the setup along with a 650 d/p, GMPP intake, and holley RED fuel pump.

I think i have the battery/starter, and fuel pump figured out.

Question is which terminal is which on the 2-wire plug on the ALT?

Looking at it from the rear, is it the left terminal or the right the one that needs the resisted 12V feed?

My ALT didn't come with a plug so wire color won't tell me anything!

Thanks guys--you've been a big help.
