Default how to modify the shift lever on a 4l60e for a ford shifter

anyone have suggestions on how to use the stock shifter with the 4l60e tranny? i have a 94 mustang with a bolt on shifter cable. the 4l60e has a ball socket on the shift arm.

the tranny currently in the car had the ball cut off and welded a nut. i didnt like the outcome to much so what are you guys doing? i dont like cheese so whats a cleaner way in doing this?

I was thinking grind the ball off my stock sn95 shifter, and grind the ball off the 4l60e arm, drill a hole in each. Then just a piece of metal between the 2 with slotted holes in each end for adjustment, with bolts/nuts to hold in place.

But it still needs to be able to pivot where the bolts go in, so maybe a bearing on teh backside or somethign IDK.
