good job man! why didn't u consider the h2 pan?...this the pan iam using for my buick and i haven't test fit it yet but from what i hear and read(other b-body guy used it) no notching involved! a little to late now just curios why u used marcus(sharp96ss) way?

 

I dunno actually. I guess I had the pan already on it, and didn't need to buy another one. I saw KC Henry used the same pan and notched, and I saw notch pictures from someone else and figured I had scrap metal here so I would just use that. I thought that the pans were tricky to get lined up perfect too, and didn't want to mess with that. But now I have to take off the pan or timing cover for an oil drain fitting for the turbo. LOL!!

 

it's a piece of cake R&R'ing the pan. don't sweat it

Got a lot of work done this past week. Airride is plumbed, but that's a different forum.

Got the new smaller turbo. Need to order some new mandrel bends.

looking nice man. my old man has a caprice that looks just like your car... only difference is the covered roof

 

no special tools. you want it to line up with the back of the block because some trans bolts go to it. if you have the pan to far back the trans won't sit flush to the block, if it's too far forward you'll have a gap... just common sense stuff, no biggie

 

oh, unless your not using an LS trans,,,, then you have nothing to worry about

 

I'm using a 4L60E. LOL. I think I'm just going to use the timing cover, and if not, I will drill and then pour 5 qts of Wal-Mart $1.00 oil through it, like I've read about on various forums.

 

Haven't had time to get a whole lot done, I've been on the road, but I got home this morning, and I need to go pick up my radiator, and A/C condensor.

I did have a package with my new thermostat housing. NICE piece. I'm excited. I love all of this Synister stuff. 360* swivel. I was going to get the cheap CSR straight one, but I can't use a straight outlet. This was only $80, and I like it.






Driveshaft is in, and shift linkage is hooked up. I was able to use all my stock linkage, and hook it right too the 4L60E.

 

hey, does that water neck allow you to use an old style thermostat? very nifty looking piece. I'm assuming when it's tightened down it won't swivel?! if so can you still get to the allen head bolts if the neck is swiveled over one?

 

I was told to use the regular LS1 thermostat for the year or years when they were seperate.

The neck is not at a 90* angle to the the flange, maybe 60-70, so it should work, you might have to cut off a bit of an allen wrench to tighten it down though. I dont know yet.

 

Got the radiator back yesterday.







I also got the gauge panel remade. The one I finally finshed well turned out pretty good until I drilled the indicator holes. One was a 1/16th higher, and it was the 4th one I tried. The first 2 were plexiglass and shattered, the 3rd one was aluminum, and the plasma cutter I have wouldn't turn down low enough to cut nicely, so I threw that one out too.

 

Very cool project. I've always wanted one of these cars, but put black steelies/dog-dish hubcaps, dark navy blue color, really dark tint, and a big 'ol antenna sticking out the trunk

Excellent work on the dash, radiator and fans. I have an 81' Caprice Landau(soon 2 be ls1 powered) I'm gathering parts for right now. Btw, what radiator/condenser and fans are those?
