So I got the car running finally after months of not being able to work on it, car sounds great through the manifolds and fired right up! Just waiting to finish up some of the wiring inside and I'm getting closer to a driving car.

Tried to return my mid-length headers to BRP (the hit my frame...) but they won't allow me to send them back since it's been over 60 days. The fact that the long-tubes they sent me didn't work (they hit the firewall, lost the e-brake, etc etc) even with their motor-mount kit didn't matter. The fact that Phil @ BRP told me he thought the mid-lengths should possibly work with or without their kit didn't matter. Needless to say I'm not too impressed with any of it (after 2 sets of headers and 2 sets of mounts (they sent the wrong mounts the first time too)) not to forget the 20% re-stocking fee and money I spent to ship the parts that didn't fit back...

So if anyone wants a set of BRP mid-lengths let me know. I have some that are brand new and have only been placed on the car. Too bad I cut my floor and didn't use any of the BRP stuff in the long run since none of it fit...

Okay, time for an update! The car runs and moves! Slowing wrapping it all up, it's at the exhaust shop today getting a system done. The wiring is close to done, so after all that just have to adjust all the suspension and wrap a few things up underneath. I snapped a few pics today when I loaded it up, check them out-

Do you have any close up pics of the manifold to steering column area, any real issues with clearance there. I have a 62 Biscayne, that is going to get one of these transplants soon.

Sweet 62

Just wondering if you think the a/c compressor would still fit in the stock location as I'm hoping to run a/c in my 64.

Default Ls1 help

Hello,
Would it be possible to get some information on your project? My e-mail is dragwagon62@aol.com. I am planning on dropping an LS3 into my 62 Impala. Love what you've done with yours and would like to hook mine up if possible. I would like to hear about your issues and resolutions to problems you had encountered. Thanks for your time.

Would block hugger headers work, or not be worth the trouble vs regular manifolds?

Block huggers may work, we didn't try them so I'm not sure.

The wheels are Vintage Wheel Works V45's 17x9.5 5.5 inch backspacing w/ 275/40/17 tires.

Thumbs up

Nice build,as alot of people on this thread I to am doing one but on my 62 Biscayne wagon with a 5.3 4l60e instead,Did you have to go with the f-body pan,I read at one point you had the cts-v pan on, did that one work?I don't know what mounts I have they came with the setup i bought, very plan and simple looking.I have'nt started the fun of mocking up yet,I will keep your thread as one to go back to.Did you end up using that drive shaft support from late great chevys?I am going to have to use it as i am doing mine on bags.

I noticed you're using CPP master cylinder. Is it the standard model or the offset?

I'm running an F-Body pan with stock manifolds right now.

The master and booster is their standard mini-booster and master cylinder.

Yes 17x9.5 all around.

We are using a stock style 2 piece drive-shaft that's been custom made for the car.

Sorry I don't get to everyone super fast, it's crazy around here!

Car is in the paint shop and has been jam'd and is being re-assembled for the actual paint now. Here are some pics of it in bare-metal, the body-work and primer stage-

I'm still hunting for a engine tranny for my 62 Biscayne. I had one lined up then I guess the guy got a better offer and sold it before I came down with a deposit. Out of curiousity, how much did you pay for that engine/tranny ( donor car). I think that might be a route I might end up going. You car looks like it's coming along nicely. What's the final color choice going to be?
