sbc to 4.8 LS motor all info is BIG help
My 383 sbc went kaboom over a year ago and my 85 Z28 has been sitting since b/c the last time i had to rebuild the motor, it cost almost $2K. I just found a cheap 4.8 with 72k miles from an 01 silverado that the guy swapped for a 6.0. so i'll be getting everything. computer, pan, injectors... everything.
what will i need to do.
me and my buddy are going to be preforming the swap. we so far came up with...
LS1 motor mounts swap into 3rd gen
electric fuel pump in-line
headers fo course
maybe a cam upgrade?
can a LS1/LS6 intake manifold fit 4.8/5.3/6.0?
car currectly sports a AJE tub. k-member, MSD 6AL box

anywho, the car already has a BUFFED TH400 tranny, i would love have two M6 cars, but this was a street/strip car and i don't like stick shift for the strip... plus i wanted to make it as simple and cheap as possible. i've got very low expenses. having to add another pedal, clutch master extra $$$ and time. i may not even bother upgrading the cam.

If you are going to use LS1/LS6 intake, you will have to change the waterpump due to the truck pump having a top outlet(interferes with the TB) VS LS1 output being striaght out the front of the pump. Once you change the pump, the rest of the accessories will not line up, so now you need a new crank pulley, new alternator bracket, and possibly AC bracket(not sure on that one). I run F-Body accessories on my 5.3 with an LS6 intake.
