Nice swap. I know this is kinda off topic, but if you want to go faster I have a Cole TR4 v-drive I'll sell you. Right now with my mild 500hp 454 it'll do 85 for sure. I got scared to try to go faster without a helmet and high impact life vest.

Sounds like some fun. Just thinking about the rpm potential of the genIII pushing a
v drive almost gives me a hardon!!! I got a child on the way so no big buys for me right now. Just some upgrades untill next season. I am looking for a cam upgrade if anyone has any input.

Maybe if GM gets back on it's feet and starts producing these, the price of exhaust manifolds will come down.

True. One big thing they realized was the oil pan. The truck and camaro pans are too deep. I will say the pan was the biggest issue for me on the install next to the exhaust. I am currently running a batwing corvette pan and that thing squizzes in. Not much room in the jet boats.

Ha....well.........

I was really excited about going the LSx route with my boat....but then cooler heads prevailed and I decided not to blow my nest-egg on doing this swap (and doing it right!)

Ended up rebuilding/upgrading the 454 that was in it.

The LQ9 will be going in this truck, along with a 4L80E, once I get the turbo tune sorted out.

I still want to do this swap sometime down the road.....so if anybody comes across any good knowledge/parts/tips/etc, post them up in here!!!

Ouch..that sucks. Here are a couple of links to my buddy Tom's 5.3 turbo build that he's doing in a jet. You can probably search his screen name Impatient1 and find some more.

Ok, so we're back in business!

Picked up a nice LQ4 from a local wrecking yard, complete from engine cover to O2 Sensors.

Little dirty, but should clean right up:

Yep, cleaned right up. More pics to follow.

Working on getting some other parts to fall into place to keep this thing moving forward.

Going to keep the fuel injection, or going carb?
If you're keeping the efi, I assume you'll be running fresh water cooling to maintain a constant temp?

I am running the EFI, with an open loop, speed density tune.

I am running lake water for cooling. It will be fine.

She's slowly starting to get undressed

Take lots of pics. Ibwould love to see how you'll route the cooling.
I was not sure how sensitive an SD tune would be to the varying temps without closed cooling.

Well i've never done it before in a boat, but I think I have enough flexibilty with EFI Live to shift the fueling tables with modifiers and such to work ok within a fairly large range of coolant temps. We will have to see I guess. If nothing else, I will run a bypass thermostat.

Did a little cleaning this weekend. Was a LOT of grease/grime under the intake and on the valvecovers. Here's a before and after shot.
