Hey Pigpen! You and I have already been talking over on Performanceboats

I am still waiting to hear back from CPP about that driveline adapter.

Will post more pics here one of these days of my progress. It's coming along...

I would love to see pics, diagrams on how you routed the cooling system.
I assume you're running speed density with no O2s, who programmed it?
Are you running a return line to the fuel tank, or using a cool fuel setup like Merc?

Oh I didn't put 2 and 2 together i'm sorry. Ya better hurry, summer is almost here, haha. Let me know what you find out.

Gary, here's a pic of part of the cooling system. The two hoses with 90 degree hose ends are where the water goes into the engine, the two right above are where it comes out. There's gate valves where the water enters and exits the boat to regulate flow. Hope that makes sense, if not I'll try to clarify. On the fuel system I'm running return line back to the tank.

Ok, lots of pics and progress since my last update!

Went to my buddy's place and got the boat out of storage so I could actually work on it.

LS2 GTO pan works PERFECTLY for clearing the pump....unlike the stock truck pan.

The big block bellhousing bolts up without any problems.

BOOYAH! Everything clears perfectly. Can even install/uninstall the oil filter...but it is close.

Got it set into place, leveled and square, and made motor mounts.

I fabbed up some water pump block-off plates

Wrenching party.....aka "The Fastest Cam Swap Ever", haha.

I fabbed motor mounts to mount to the stock mounting studs that are bolted to the stringers.

Painted the block with VHT ceramic engine paint.

Truck windage tray with an LS2 GTO pickup tube.

Waterpump blockoff plates bolted up and ready to go.

Awwww yeah!!
The aluminum front cover and oil pan cleaned up nice with a scotchbrite roloc.

Pig Pen, I called up Kodiak boats out of Oregon and got an LSx PTO, and also called up REX Marine and got a new driveline to go with it. Should be the same length as my old Rockwell H-bar driveline, so the motor should be able to stay put.

Got the cam put in...it's a Lunati from SDPC and the specs are:
224/232
.585/.590
114+4LSA
with Patriot Golds and Comp pushrods.

Here is the cam that I bought for it:

Still trying to figure out what to do with the exhaust. Bassett said they'd make me a set of headers for $1500. Seems pretty steep, but they have the water injection lines in them already, the Bassett T-valve, and they are chrome plated. Anybody else have any good options?

Are you guys using USCG approved alternators and starters. If so, where did you get them?

Heeeell no....lol.

Stock GM stuff. This is hot rodding....we don't follow the rules

Honestly though, I'm not worried about touching off a blaze in the open engine compartment. I would definitely think a little more about it if I was going to be running a hood on it.

What driveline did you find thats going to end up the same length as your rockwell? I haven`t been able to find one that short. Rockwell was ~ 6.75" long IIRC and all the newer ones I have seen are ~7.5" plus the length of the PTO

For headers you could look into the cheapie e-bay stainless LS1 f-body headers. you could probably mount them flipped side to side and upsidedown and then weld the water injection fittings in.

EDIT: saw the question above about USCG approved stuff. Its not required by law on boats with open engine compartments, however, you can get it. If you look around you can pick up LSX marine starters for about a hundred bucks and you can run any marine alt with the LSx, just change the v belt pulley to a serpentine pulley and fab up a bracket.

For exhaust you may want to hit up Discount Inboard Marine for LS series manifolds (Indmars) SkiDim.com They don't have any on thier website but they may can source them for you. Nice Project! I wish the LS was available when I bought my Supra in 99, I had to settle for Vortech 350 motor.

I don't have an alternator on mine yet, i went all last summer without one

On the headers you might be able to cut the flanges off of some small tube BBC or BBF headers and weld LS flanges on them. I was going to try that with the Bassets I was running on the big-block but the 2-1/4 tubes were a little too big.

Are those springs going to be here in time for a "fastest valve spring swap" party next week?

My boat came equipped with a Rockwell "long" H-bar, which measures 8.75" overall. That will be the EXACT same length as a new driveline and PTO.

I am going to test fit a set of Hooker Super Comps from an F-body that my buddy is selling. Price is right....we will see how they fit.

Everything i've seen for LSx wet logs has been OUTRAGEOUS as far as pricing... Bassett (the boat header company) said they'd make me a set of LSx water injected, chrome plated headers for $1500...not terrible...but they wanted $7500 to make me a set of wet logs....yes, $7500.

Started working on my fuel system. For a pump, I am using a Bosch 044 for the time being. The plan is to eventually swap it with the Walbro 255 in my '69.
I also ordered up a C5 vette return style regulator/filter that i'm going to mount right near the tank.

Also converting over to an all car intake setup....so i get to solder new pigtails to my truck harness for injector connectors. Here's what I've got so far...I'm planning to mount the intake backwards, so that the TB is back near the bellhousing...because I don't think there's enough room at the front for the TB and intake duct/filter with the seat right there.

If you want water jacketed manifolds, you can get new Crusader 6.0 center rise for about $500/pair.
