6.0 and a 4l80 at least. Big single turbo a 12 bolt and leave that paint on it for a sleeper. 3rd gens that are really fast and still look stock are pretty rare.
I had a 87 z28 just for an lsx before I bought a late model. Almost wish I had gone through it because it would have been super cool.
I LOVE GTAs screw selling it man. It looks too badass to sell :-(

Yeah I really don't want to get rid of it. love that car to death, I just graduated from an automotive college. so hopefully I will have some money to put into it soon. (I'm stuck with it no one wants to buy it anyway because of the rod bearing). Oh well there loss.

You said that nobody wants to buy it. I'd imagine the best case scenario you'll probably end up getting 1000 for it if you find a thirdgen nut or somebody willing to restore it, so selling is probably not a good idea. If you restore it, you'll never know if its really worth any major money until many years down the road, and even then you may not get a return because its still got 250 on the clock. Since you are probably going to be putting money in it anyway, I'd LSX it. I have seen some cool thirdgen swaps, and they look very fun and rewarding in the end. One thing that I do notice is that your car is an 89 and that was one of the few thirdgen years if not the only one that t-tops were an option with the L98 engine. I am sure you know that its a rarity because GM was afraid of chassis flex. I had a 92 RS that was totalled before I had enough money to consider LSXing it. Had it been today and that car was still around, I'd probably have built it up the right way instead of having my run of the mills 4th gen. Good luck.

A True GTA is getting harder and harder to find also, because of all the jackasses making there plane bace firebird look like a GTA to sell them for more than what they are worth.
I have seen it to many time's I'm going to LSX it for a while then once its older I will probably Restore it. yeah it does have a lot of miles on it but the engine has never been touched. until now that is. My car is rust free and has had no body damage ever. so as far as what the car will be worth its hard to say. The mileage may hurt it a little bit but. if the car is restored properly I don't really see that being an issue considering the build numbers on the GTA was low production. and 1989 being the lowest of them all. because of the Turbo TA that they made 1500 of.

my 88 gta w/ the digital dash and my 89 tta were my favorite f-bodies i owned... Sold them both for downpayment on my new 2001. GTA had 45xxx miles and the TTA has 22,XXX miles. Both of the ******** that bought them, totaled them in less than 6 months of owning them.
There's something about 3rd gens and the way they drive just dont compare to 4th gens.. Dont know what it is, I just can't throw my 01 around on the street like I could that GTA...
I'd wake that baby up w/ lsx.

We got a 89 formula 5.0 tune port and were gonna do an lsx swap later, but for now its just gonna be restored. The interiors already done, next thing is paint which is gonna be soon, IDK some thing about the 3rd gens is just bad ***. Its like the fox-body of f-bodies

GTA's are getting rarer these days. If I were you, I'd keep it, especially since nothing is hacked up. You might think to LSx it and then restore it later on, but with an LSx, you'll eventually have to hack something. I would purchase a cheaper '85-'90 Trans Am (looks the same as a GTA) and then use that as an LSx build up.

I have an '88 GTA that I plan to add an LSx to. Mines RHD, so it'll never be original again so I have nothing to lose. IDK, with the LSx it will be more fun for you to drive, and stock is boring, anyone can have a standard car.........

LC2 powerplant. That would be the 3.8 sfi single turbo powered buick motor. Im sure everyone here has seen a Grand National or a turbo TA running low 11's on high boost. The best part of it is that those setups are readily available and for the most part are predominately stock. Everything U need for a factory install is available. Just a thought.
