The L92 doesn't have DOD. The DOD engines need the higher oil pressure to activate the lifters to seal off the 4 cylinders not being used.
Ditto on DOD changes. No change required to forget VVT. (apart from maybe the cam gear/phaser, though it no doubt defaults to an ok timing point...).

The DOD oil pump is not higher pressure, it is higher volume. Up to 30%.

DOD engines have an extra oil pressure regulator to ensure the pressure does not get too high, i.e. around 65psi.

The reason for the extra volume is to support the DOD oil requirements
: re-activating the DOD lifters, and maybe the less important fact that the solenoids for DOD actually leak full time. By design.

If you have an LS2 harness for an E38, should work fine.

I know this thread is kinda out of date, but would a 05 silverado 5.3 DBW harness need any modification, other than a tune obviously, to work with a l92 with no vvt?

i think that still has cam sensor in the back of block,,doesnt it?..we just pulled an 05 lq4 and it was in the back,, l92 cam sensor is in front,,like ls2 style,, im pretty sure you would need to modify harness,, has to reach cam sensor and have right plug for e38.. 58xtooth controller..

ive been racking my brain out for the past week trying to figure out all this newer stuff,,!!!

but if you wanted to put it in an genIII truck,i think easist way to do it is get the 58xt converter box to 24xt,,and a exstension harness for your cam sensor,, and i think you can run your stock pcm,,but cant use the vvt,,you would have to have e38 ecm..,this is from what i understand,,im no proffesional..maybe some one else can chime in..

So the l92's are 24x...hmm. and yea im tryin to keep it simple so I will be doing away with the vvt. If the cam plus just needs to be extended to the front, that shouldnt be an issue, I am wanting to rework the harness to make it a bit cleaner looking anyways.

That would be a rare item...was it an LS2? Even if it was, 58X didnt come in until MY06.
