Can't decide BB or LSX?
But when you mentioned 67 Camaro and a 502, the decision becomes harder. There is something magic about a big block Camaro. And IMO the only thing that beats a 502 is a 572.
Tough call. If you want all out straight line performance that is still somewhat true to the era, then get the 502. But my guess is the LS powered car will be a better all around performer and will unqeustionably be cheaper to fuel.
And who cares about fuel economy. You aren't driving it everyday, and probably not every month. Its up to you, but since you already own an ls powered vehicle a say you add some diversity to your fleet.

Good luck.
"If your going to do it put a 572 into it." Wow that sounds good. I think I'll copy right and put it on a bumper sticker.
Either choice is bad to the bone.

This is after all LS1tech. I would expect the opposite result on BigBlocktech (if there is such a site).
I vote LS engine. If you have the budget go big cube LSX. Then you have the best of both worlds. Even building a 427 would give it that magical sound "427 Camaro".
I like big block torque, but there is more to life than straight line acceleration.

If your looking for large CI engine.. go with a LSx block and you can get the 427+ size, but you will be misssing out on the great Gen III\IV heads that will out flow the BBC's.
Weekend warrior for sure. Straight line performance because I don't really plan on using the car on a road course. I want plenty of power to push me into the back of the seat until I let of the gas. With that being said a drop out LS1 6 speed is cheaper than 8k for a 502 and another 5k for 5speed kit.

. I voted lsx but it could really go either way for me. Will be cool no matter what.
