Default filter location

When I did the LT1 conversion to my 67 Chevelle I was able to tuck the filter into the fender cavity behind the headlight. It kept it dry and safe from road debris. It looks like you have more fender cavity room in your 72 so it should work for you too.

I later built an enclosure to seal it off from the engine compartment heat so it only pulled air from behind the headlights. This was a noticeable improvement in power when the car was fully heat soaked from driving.

I have see that also but with the oil filter and lines there it would have been a pain to make a box to seal if from the engine heat.

What software are you using to tune the car? I am running a similar set up.

well I have the B&M super cooler the biggest one they have
Ext. Oil Filter mount with two 1/8 NPT fitting for temp gauge sensor
-6 lines that run from the trans to filter and cooler
Like New B&M hammer shifter
trans as a core with stock converter
The 3000 stall TCI converter if it is still good
Autometer trans temp gauge.. that all I can think of right now..

Sorry to hear about the trans failure.

Good luck with the T-56 swap. I loved my LS1 / T-56 car. Even with 4.10 gears I was able to get 25 mpg out of it at 75 mph.

The T56 is what I wanted in the first place but I got the trans from a friend that was going to a manual so i got a good deal on it...I think.

I had fun with the Auto while it lasted..
