Budget 5.3/4l60e 240sx Build

They are the PXracing engine mounts with a custom trans crossmember. They are for an S14 but worked with a little modification.
It is a GTO pan.
The car is not running yet. The constant power to the PCM keeps shorting for some reason. I am working on diagnosing the issue right now.
The bottom also ended up needing to be cut out to the middle of the existing circles.
Boxing tubing was welded in and then plates to close the hole.

I thought it would be something simple, but not as embarrassingly simple as it ended up being.
I put the colored PCM pin guards on the wrong plugs.
C1 and C2 plugs were reversed.
Ill be back this weekend to finish it up.
How is the MMA training coming along

Car should be a riot to drive. The 5.3 is plenty stout with the right cam and good headers. I had a 5.3 with milled heads, cam and longtubes putting down 360 to the tire through a 4l60e with a loose converter. Pulled clean all the way to 7k without any worries. Ever. You will be surprised by the output of the 5.3...

I sent the PCM back to its tuner and everything checked out.
Its possible a sensor(s) were damaged though.
I am going to try and get an HD camera from the school now that yourtube will host it.

Glad you got everything figured out man. The training is going well but my cardio is complete crap. Any chance you could bring back that light and mini fridge? Hit me up this weekend so I can check out the (hopefully running) car.

care to share on the modifications needed to use the PXR mounts? Chito and Frankie seem to think the hood bracing needed to be trimmed to clear the throttle body. Can you confirm? would you have any pics of the extent of the mods?
Where in Tx are you?

The car is a few days from being absolutely roadworthy.
I had an issue with a coolant leak damaging a sensor, and a couple bad grounds, but all is well now.
I am throwing codes for both O2 sensors. I suspect this has something to with a possible incongruity between my PCM flash year and the diagram I used for repining the harness.
Here is the current state of the car. I will be back with it this weekend(weather permitting), and hope to drive it back with me.
Fan shroud made of an aluminum backing sheet. Had to post it

Thanks man. The baking sheet was like $9. Wish I could have welded it. I could not pick up the thin aluminum welding fast enough to use the machine we have on campus. I suspect the instruction I got was a bit off though.
Do you post on stangs? Your car and handle seem familiar.

I have been driving the car pretty frequently, making a few changes.
There was a drive line vibration with my initial transmission mount. I ended up notching the stock chassis mounting boss to allow the transmission to come higher in the tunnel. This helped, but I need to replace a U-joint that was damaged by the improper angle.
I am still chasing the O2 sensor problem.
I am at the point where its time to just run all new wires from the PCM to sensors.
The fan shroud ended up not working out. It did not allow enough passive flow at highway speed. This became an issue once the weather got into the high 90s. I am now using a set of 2001 Malibu fans that im much happier with.
I just got paid so an order for the O2 pins and wires needs to be made.

No major changes have been made for the last few months. My living situation at school makes working on the car all but impossible unless its an emergency.
The alternator was having charging issues which turned out being a result of corrosion on the factory Nissan alternator wire I was using. It was replaced with a larger diameter length and all is well.
My roommate(electrical engineer) and I were about at out wits end with the oxygen sensor issues. Nothing seemed to work, so I bit the bullet and bought a used HPtuners bundle. Over the holidays I am hoping the new found access to the PCM will help out in getting the sensors functional.
I picked up a T56 a couple months ago. I had not intended buying one this soon, but it was for sale at a price I could not pass up. I wanted to have a clutch before the holidays when I have time and a garage, but current funds are not going to allow that. I guess its going to have to be over the summer.
