Default Radiator for a Retro fit LS1

Can you use any universal radiator for a LS1 or does it have to be a radiator out of a Lsx based vehicle?

I reused my lt1 radiator, only had to block off 2 small coolant outlets, the ones that went to the oil cooler on the lt1. Plus the lt1 radiator has a thicker core.

An LT1 Radiator will work good.

Why did you block them off..if you leave them open it's not going to hurt anything. It's the Tranny Fluid cooler.

I'm going to be using the same aluminum radiator I had in my car with a big block. The stock LS1 radiator looks like a pansy compared to my old radiator so I'm sure it will cool it just fine. I might switch it out later on for a radiator with the inlet and outlets both on the passenger side for a cleaner look.

I used a Walker radiator originally built for the old iron small block Chevy. You just have to make the hoses and bleed setup work....just basic hot rod fabrication. My coolant recovery bottle was a spun-aluminum Vodka bottle.

what I was thinking is blocking off the relief on the radiator and use the LS1 pressurized coolant bottle. the radiator should function without air pockets if i do it like this. right?
