Collector Flange on Stock Cast Headers

Collector Flange on Stock Cast Headers Since my stock cast Camaro headers fit my Chevelle I'd like to save some money and use them. Only problem is the O2 sensor bung is in the wrong position. My exhaust guy tells me the GM LS1 flange is not standard, therefore difficult to find collectors with mating flanges. Is this true? If yes, how do you guys solve this problem? If not, who makes a set of collectors with O2 sensor bungs that fit the stock cast headers? Please provide mfr and part number. thanks, LM

Re: Collector Flange on Stock Cast Headers The stock flanges are HUGE so I had my buddy who owns a muffler shop cut them off and weld on new, smaller, more conventional ones. We also cut off all the EGR stuff and welded the holes shut. The O2 sensor position worked OK on my install so I left them alone. I had the headers Jet Hot coated which I highly recommend.

Re: Collector Flange on Stock Cast Headers My muffler guy told me the same thing. I had to make him a set of flanges myself out ¼ " thick steel. He wanted a 2-1/8" hole for my 2" exhaust. I bought a bimetal hole saw and cut them on my drill press. Took a while but turned out great in the end. I just kept putting oil on it all the time to keep it cool. Your muffler guy should have o2 plugs and bungs. Just install a new bung right after the collector. They have changed the part number for the gaskets to the flange, but the old one is 10168551. If they type that in the new one should come up
