Lookin to do a LS7 swap into an E39 M5 and might like to have a copy of the motor mounts.

heres a pic of the mounts. Used 10ga steel as plates bolted on the block, and 1 5/8 tubing we had left over from a roll cage. They bolt on to where the factory BMW mounts were...solid of course. The drivers side plate is a little longer extending forward some, once the mounts are taken out it will get a gusset.

Here is the only spot we could get the turbo to fit, it is held by a temporary bracket, headers will come up and over and merge/Y into the turbo. Crossover pipe will come up over the drivers side then down and back up. Should look pretty wild.

This looks like a great project. I see '97+ 5 series at the auction all day long. Picked up a high mileage '97 528i for $4500 the other day.

Why is there a block of wood under the oil pan? I assume you aren't going to have 2" clearance between the pan and the crossmember? Mounts look nice and simple.

If you guys want info/pics on Bill Hagan's twin turbo LS1/5 series email me:
gnx7@hotmail.com He makes around 500rwhp on a Lingenfelter shortblock and has put over 60K miles on it in AZ with a/c and p/s. He runs (2) small intercoolers on either side of the radiator (where the fog lamps go) and log style headers that dump into the (2) turbos. It looks very tight in there. For simplicity I think the T-70 is the way to go.

I assume you have installed a Z06 cam or similar into the 5.3 with upgraded valvesprings?

Will you be running the LS6 intake or the truck style?

the block of wood is there holding it to make the mounts, yes it will come out. you can barely make out the steering linkage behind it that is tight, so the clearance is needed.
We put a stock 97-00 LS1 cam in it, and it will get a stock LS1 intake for now, this is a budget build for now...improvements will later come.

By the sounds of it this will be totally different than Bill Hagan's setup. It will have a single front mount intercooler. The turbo headers will look similar to the ones I made for my Nova, except the headers will come up and over and the downpipe will go under (opposite of my Nova).....He wants this to look wild. Heres a couple pics of the headers I made for my Nova.

Passenger side header in the making. The other side will cross over and go into the turbo. Its roughed in place and tacked. An odd looking collector, but space is VERY tight for these large of tubes.
The stainless will all be polished later. Hopefully finish it up tomorrow along with the other side.

Default Interesting use of Scd 10 SS Pipe

Just noticed you are using Scd 10 Fittings (& pipe ??). AIR they're over .100" thick.

Just how much boost are you guy planning to run ?

Seriously though, nice workmanship on your Nova and an inexpensive way to get SS tube bends. A bit heavy though.

Looking forward to seeing the rest of your build!

yes its 1.5" (like 1.9 OD) sch. 10 pipe. .109 thick. Using tubing .065 wall is more prone to cracking. No heavier than a stock manifold. And it will support the weight of the turbo. Structural wise, I wouldn't use the high dollar stainless tube elbows if you gave them to me...That stuff is for dairy farms....lol. The endless heat cycles and vibrations you'd need to make a million brackets and have it all reinforced....so I prefer to make it out of stuff strong enough to do the job and LAST. And Yes, WAY cheaper.

The schedule 10 elbows come from Mcmaster.com
That Passenger side header looked like an abortion and gave us nightmares...so we cut it apart and redid it. Also finished up the hot side tonight. Crossovers just tacked and we been polishing it slowly with a little wheel, shines up awesome. Heres the latest pics...
