Default return style fuel with 97 vette rails

Ok guys im doing a v6-v8 swap, I have the 97 vette fuel rail, and the small regulator that goes on the fuel rail. This piece has a vacuum line on it. Where would I get a vacuum for that piece? does anyone have pics of their 97/98 fuel rail setups?

I dont think I have any good shots of the fuel setup ( and just pulled the rail off for different setup this week, but there is really nothing to it. The vette rail goes in just like the old rail did, and you don't even need to hook up vac to the regulator- You can just cap it off.

this is what i did. i ran a hose from the regulator to a T tied into the back of the intake so it could pull vacuum.

so i can either run it to the back of the intake or cap it off. Any cons to capping it off.

If it's not hooked up, the regulator won't regulate the fuel pressure. I hooked mine up to a vacuum source, but can't remember where. Car isn't here or I would go look. This is what the vacuum diagram on a Vette looks like.

Don't hook it up the the vacuum. It will drop your fuel pressure way down (58 psi down to 49 psi or so at idle), ask me how I know. No idea why it is routed to the air duct though, mine is just uncapped and seems to be happy.

Mine is uncapped also (for years) and it's fine. You don't have to do anything to it..

"The fuel pressure regulator is a diaphragm operated relief valve with fuel pump pressure on one side and regulator spring pressure on the other side. The fuel pressure regulator is vented to atmosphere. A software bias is used to compensate injector on-time because the regulator is not referenced to manifold vacuum. The injector pulse width varies with the signal from the MAP sensor. With the ignition ON and the engine OFF, system fuel pressure at the pressure test connection should read 380-420 kPa (55-61 psi). If the pressure is too low, poor performance could result. If the pressure is too high, excessive odor and a Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) P0132, P0152, P0172 or P0175 may result. The Fuel System Diagnosis table has information on diagnosing fuel pressure conditions."

This is directly from the GM service manual.

Don't cap it off. if you do, the diaphram has no atmospheric reference...
