Double checks on wiring before giving it power?
About to put the battery in and see if the computer is good or not.
I have the 4 red wires connected to 12 volt each fused, 2 to switched each fused, and ground. OBII port wired to switched, ecm, and ground under the dash.
Any must check things before I connect the fuse block to power?

Fire extinguisher handy.
LOL.
I did mine the other night to check the airride for leaks. . No problems. It felt good to have no smoke coming out from anything. I didn't turn the engine over, cause it's not ready to crank.
Just go for it man....if your not 100% sure, just imagine the rush you'll get. LOL.

well I plugged it in any nothing blew up, but when connected to a snap on diagnostic tool, it gets a "no communication" error
also the port is only getting power with the key on
does anyone have any ideas on where to check first?
EDIT: I did just remember the 3 grounds behind the drivers side head are not hooked up if that could be it.

Yeah, first thing tomorrow I'm going to hook it up to constant.
The ground issue has to be it. I remember now there were supposed to be 2, just got in a hurry again. That should get things working I hope. Oh btw, I'm not trying to start it, I'm just seeing if the computer will communicate to make sure its good since it was bought used.
Thanks guys, I'll give an update in the morning.

after giving it a look, the 2 grounds were wired together then for the length I needed I had used a larger gauge wire so that they both shared a ground location
aside from the port getting switched power instead of constant does anyone have ideas?
how does the VATS system work? does it just shut the computer off after several seconds if the signal is not received?

thanks
I hooked up only ecm power and ecm ground, and I get power to the odbII port but it just gives me "no communication" error
should I be getting anything with just that? I'm about to just go about hooking up fuel and all the other stuff and just see if it will turn over or maybe start and run before the VATS kill it
