Fuel system testing
I'm using a tank and pump from a 2000 T/A. So I get the wiring diagram and find out what wires are the power wires for the pump (none of the truck is wired yet). I used a battery charger to give a 12v signal to the pump. I can hear it come on, but no gas at the fuel rail. I then disconnected the fuel lines at the filter/regulator...still no gas. I disconnected the lines at the outlet of the tank...guess what...no gas.
So I take the pump/sending unit out. When I apply power I can hear it trying to work, but it sounds like it's frozen. Normally I'd expect to hear a high pitch wine if it were pumping.
Does this sound like I need a new pump to everyone? The tank/pump was sitting outside for awhile, and hasn't been used in probably at least a year.
Anything else I should check before getting a new pump.
Oh, there is also some rust on the top of the pump.
well when I disconnected the fuel line before the regulator, I still wasn't getting fuel. I'm pretty sure the pump is just siezed up.
