haha.... i'd try the push start method if I had a driveshaft and torque converter already, but I don't. I like the ingenuity though!

I'll get it...I just have to pace myself, and not get too mad everytime I try something and it doesn't work. lol

I'll look into the msd starter..... but I just bought this one, sux to have to get another one if this is the problem... but on the other hand If its just a starter keeping me from firing this engine...its not that bad. haha

since you have dealt with someone at MSD, i would drop a dime on them, or maybe who ever you purchased the box from, explain they need to help you out on the starter a little bit, since you were not told of a cranking rpm problem, and they got to make it right-wouldnt kill them to offer one up at their cost to cure the situation, a little better than a lawsuit, lol
dont talk to a phone answerer, talk to da man, lol

MSD makes the Edelbrock box but the Edelbrock box CANNOT be tuned. It can only use the preset 'pills' included with the kit. You will still have the same rpm issues.

Yeah i have heard of others having rpms problems. Buy a used GM starter from the boards, why do you have to have a mini starter? Sell it.

I am using the mini starter becasue it fits... lol I have a stock starter, but it doesn't fit with the room I have left in my engine bay around the k frame area. But I might have to make it fit now.

Ok guys.... tried again today.. this time i made the stock starter fit...LOL and it almost started!! it kind of tried to start, and it stumbloed a bit, but i couldn't get it to fire up and run. So this tells me I need the stock starter to make it start...my mini starter just doesn't turn fast enough i guess.

Now If I can get it to start and run on its own power that would be golden. I'll have to charge up my battery as full as it can get and try it..maybe thats it? If not, I'll have to get a battery with some serious CCA.

While you are charging the battery you should check the plugs and make sure they aren't wet.

The optima batteries are pretty strong. I have plenty of room so i've just been using a marine battery for now haha. 1000cca. You can also run a larger gauge wire to the starter which will give you less voltage and amperage drop giving the starter the full power it needs.

I have 0ga everywhere. I tried charging the battery full and its still not enough....its over 10.5v while cranking lol I finally got a laptop hooked up to it and Its still not seeing rpm... it reads rpm once in a while, but like 25rpm or so?? It tries to fire... but still no start. I pulled a few plugs after trying to start it as well....a few are clean as a whistle, and a few are dirtied up. it seems only some have fired.....

tomorrow I'll call MSD and see what i get from them.

Hmm whats the timing set at? Try playing with the timing, maybe the box is miscalibrated?

Go over your wiring for the box. It sounds like a bad connection some where.

Well I finally got my box back. They ended up sending a completely new box. Said that the old box was unrepairable.. But other than taking a while I am happy with MSD. Plugged in the new box and the car started right up..Just have to put my tune back in it tomorrow..

Well.... i went over all my wiring today and everything checked out good. Cranking voltage is about 10.5v ..... and i'm not even getting a studder out of it today? I took another look at things and realized that I have none of the vaccuum ports on my carb sealed up!! this might help with the fuel delivery side of things. lol I got that all sorted out and still nothing. its got no spark again, and its not reading rpm again.

Called Victor at MSD and he wanted me to check out voltage while cranking at the crank sensor. but when i called him back he had went home for the day. wow... great. I guess I'll have to continue this tomorrow. anyone know what the voltage at the crank sensor should be while cranking?
