I think installing some good sound deadening in the trunk would help alot, I have plans to do that someday when I have time....

quieter tires could be my only thing. Not much you can do beause cloth doesnt insulate noise that well.

I need to recover the seats and I thought that would be a great time to remove carpet
and sound deaden the floor. I swear with the top down the car is almost quieter....

Lets be serious here. Its a vert and will NEVER sound any more quiet than it does now, its part of the experience. Comparing a vert to a hardtop car is simply insane.

How will putting sound deadening material in the trunk resolve the noise entering in from the top?

My SS wasn't that loud; not as quiet as a hardtop, but you can hear yourself think. Road noise is often from crappy or worn tires. I'd also check for rattles or loose stuff.

i dunno.. i can think pretty quietly
i agree about tires. also you could pull up the carpet and put dynamat down underneath it. wish there was something we could put between the liner and the top.

Well, I was looking at the sound deadening in the trunk from two angles and I have never ever compared it to a hardtop, for one how can you compare it, it's way better .

One, it would improve the sound from the sub, or at least that is what I have been told by stereo shops.

Two, the majority of the noise I hear with my car comes from the rear, exhaust, etc. and since there is no deadening, figured it couldn't hurt.

FWIW, I never expected my car to be quiet like a hardtop, nor does it bother me, my goal would be to lessen the impact of the exhaust over the subs in the trunk and hopefully improve the subs performance, also when we added deadening to my olds, the bass seemed better in it, especially when the top is down, the bass was way better afterward.

I have owned a number of verts and currently have three, the Camaro is the best I have had so far for a quiet top. Very little wind noise, etc. I am very happy with this car.

And yep, you are 100% right, you want a quiet road car, don't buy a vert.

You want a car that is perfect a nice warm night with the top down to watch the moon and stars as you drive, own a vert.

You want a car that is perfect to have a nice um, time under the stars with your lady, definitely, own a vert.

You want a car that is perfect for cruising along the coast and parking at the beach, own a vert.

I have owned this car for 4 years and 70,000 miles I was just
curious if anyone had added sound deadening to our cars.
I work at a body shop and most other convertibles and cars for that matter have much more sound proofing materials added. Warm nights and a vert can't be beat.
