it's just the way to do it. it's like $3.50 for 5 minutes of water on a pressure washer .

I just got my own pressure washer. They aren't that expensive. Its a great investment if you own your home. Driveway, siding roof, gutters and the car. It works great for keeping you stuff looking good. It also shows paint that wasn't applied to your porch properly. I learned this because the paint flew off the first time, I repainted it and its good now.

I don't see how the car would clear the guide rail to even go through one?

My theory has always been, if you like the cars finish wash it yourself.....

Did a research on this topic and came across this thread.

My question is, what about the drive through hand wash places? I've been thinking about taking my 99 SS vert there.

If by wash you mean the automatic gas station car wash HELL NO!!!! First of all I'm never satisfied with the job, second water leaks though the top like crazy from the high pressure.

If I'm really busy and don't have time I do take it this local hand wash glenner and sons or something like that I always forget. Run by nice people who do a great job, owner is a minister and runs the place with his sons.

Same here.

I don't want swirled paint either.

Never take the convertible through the car wash, but I will take the Cadillac through a touchless one. Only time I'll do that is if its covered in bird crap or salt and its going to take me a couple of days before I can get around to washing it.

Omg the wheels arent THAT hard to clean! I have chrome ones and all it takes is a spray off and a quick wipedown. Cmon man!

I used the drive through carwash. I know. Stupid. But it's $3.00. It maybe got a couple of drops on the drivers inside window. What I did notice was the beating the paint took and the top started to 'bubble' when I drove it. A biigg bubble would rise up in the middle. I didn't notice the paint untill I buffed it. WOW! It glowed in the dark after that.
