Top motor When car was purchased top motor was just sitting in the trunk not bolted down.
Top will go down but not up.
Rebolted motor back in.Operated fine for a day.Then stopped.
Figured was ground so grounded the motor with a ground wire!
Still no workie.
so the question is where is the factory ground for the switch as the motor
has only two wires entering the motor!

No personal experience but I think it works this way. The motor has only two wires because the top up/down switch reverses the polarity of the 12 volts going to the motor and thus, reverses the direction the motor runs. I think I would be looking at your switch for the source of the problem. Good luck! Tom
If the motor works in one direction, it'll work in the other.
Sounds like your switch may be bad, not an uncommon occurance. The switch connects through the console harness, ground and power, I believe, come from under the dash. Like GR8RYD said, the switch reverses the polarity on the 2 motor wires. If the motor works in one direction, the ground and power connections to the switch are good and all the wiring is good. It's most likely bad switch contacts for the reverse direction.

ok fluid has been checked, looks a little low, how to fix? I looked up the sticky thread but it wasn't very informative other than."buy fluid, fill up" this is not the kind of thing I want to jack up? any helpfull tips?

Top of the pump resevoir is a plug w/ a hex head. Remove that and fill w/ mineral oil up to between the double lines molded into the opaque resevoir. Replace plug, cycle the top up/down a few times to purge air. Recheck level and top off if required.
