Bringing this one back to life. I'm a newer member and have both an 02 SS vert and an 02 35th LTE with t tops. The very is a 6 sp and it so much more fun than the auto T top car. I'm keeping the vert and selling the 35th even though it only has 14k miles on it in it's 17th year.. lol

I posted back in 2010 about getting my 2000 6-speed TA. Still have it. 155,000 miles on the clock and still mostly stock. I did go with a Strano Spring / Koni setup when it came time to put new shocks on it, and it has a Magnaflow exhaust and SLP lid. Other that that, still mechanically stock. Took it on the Power Tour in 2013 and 2018, as well as frequent trips to the Tail of the Dragon. It's picked up a few rattles and clunks I need to chase down, but that's the nature of the beast with high mileage.

EXACTLY
I really think they should have switched the TA / Formula hoods/ performance.
i also note that when they did the 4th gen TA styling they mimicked the Formula hood and NOT the TA
And yes, most formulas were chopped up or converted to TAs

Gorgeous pair! Love that '72 Formula! '72 is my favorite year of F-body production. Although having owned a '72 T/A back in the day might given me a bit of a bias. I always loved the honeycomb grill and thought it looked so much better than the square egg crate style grills used on other early 2nd gens. My dream T/A would be a Lucerne Blue 4-speed '72. (my old one was a white automatic).
That white top on the convertible looks great, too! I imagine it's a bear to keep clean. Even the taupe top on my 2000 can be a challenge to keep clean sometimes.

Those early Formula hoods were very well designed, aerodynamically. Raising the scoops like that got them out of the boundary layer and into clean air, making them far more effective. Combine that hood with the TA ground effects and fender air extractors and you'd have the best of both worlds.

Yes sir thank you
believe it or not the 72 was originally a Lucerne Blue on blue car- whoever had it before me changed it to red on black when they put it together. When it is time to paint though it will return to its original color!
the top on the 02 hasnt been a problem- but I am being kind of psycho with the cleaning on it.
