Default Rear Window Issues

I have a 2001 Z28 Convertible and the rear window is coming apart from the vinyl. I have tried numerous fixes that have all resulted in having to be re-done about every couple of months. I have called a shop that specializes in doing just convertible tops but the cost of a new top (which does need done at some point) and labor all comes to about $1,000 which is not an amount that I have lying around. One question is does anyone know what kind of adhesive was originally used to attach the window to the top and what are your suggestions for a good temporary fix until the entire thing can be replaced?? I am open to suggestions......

All you need is to clean the old surfaces (hope you haven't
tried silicone, that could ruin things) and use the urethane
windshield adhesive. You will want to clean it multiple times,
starting with whatever the solvent is for the last thing you
tried, and finishing with the solvent for the adhesive (I think
toluene, read the label).

If the urethane doesn't stick, it's a prep problem. That stuff
is really aggressive.
