Has anyone tried this before?

Is there enough slack in the harness so that button can be installed in the slot next to fog lights?

Can a decent radio shop extend these wires that go to the button?

If yes then what is proper way to do it?

I have had it that way for 3 years without any issues. I just extended the wires with the correct gauge and butt connectors.

is there anything else that I didn't think of yet and You already done it?

I 'll be putting a Aeroforce Scan gauge and my RFID push to start button where the top button switch & lighter is in the stock position.
