well recently when i get ready to take the top down on the 95 z28 it will lift slowly.. sometimes i will have to help lift it down cause it stops sometimes.. i never maintained anything its my first convertible 95 z28 only has 20k miles on the car... is there anything i need to do or does anyone might now what the problem is???

Sounds like a tired motor unless the fluid is too low. 20k miles is nothing though unless the top has been up and down excessively.

I just checked the fluid its just below the two fill lines so its alittle low... would that cause it enough to lift slow??? also what type of oil goes in there??? i heard trans fluid, to oil...

That's my understanding too (ATF) but not absolutely positive about it or your model year. I've never added anything yet.

check this before you spend big money. in my trunk on the left there is a flap of carpet that lifts up and view a valve with a triangle on top. turn the triangle and see if it fixs your issue. mines been golden for years!

Mine does not have atf, its almost clear, like mineral oil.
I had the same problem. I turned the valve to manual and put the top up and down twice. A couple drops of fluid came out of the motor, but I wiped it up, turned the valve back, and it works fine now.
