Default 95 convertible question

i have a 1995 convertible T/A and i want to put subs in it and i know for the regular hardtop with the hatchback that most subs won't fit without buying a sub box and i was wondering if that is the same for convertibles or do they have more trunk space

they have less trunk space, imo, becuase of the pump on one side and the spare tire on the other and the top in front. plus why do you need a sub in a convertible, its not going to sound all that clear if you have the top down and its more wieght in the back.

either custom make your own box...its easy as hell...oooorrrrr jus put subs in the slot already in the car.. Out to the side of the truck.. theres already room for 2 10 inchers.. So either the custom box or just put subs in there....Just puttin subs in the sides where there is already a slot is the best IMHO...

the vert does have less space in the trunk, if space is no concern then use your entire trunk, you can always have an audio shop see if they can fab up a box for you if you don't feel confertable with it.

You need to do things quite differently in a convertible, because the sound needs to get through to the passenger cabin (with top up) and basically fire through the top (when closed).

It's not a simple case like in the hatchbacks of just tossing a box in the hatch and being done with it. This approach in a convertible will just give you a rattling trunk lid and bad sound.

The nicest boxes I've seen mount on the top trunk shelf and package 8" subs (2-4). Search around for the threads, they can be found.

I would also consider that you will want to store/ transport the 3pcs. cover in the trunk and a box that takes th whole bin will interfere with that.

I would never have thought of that location. Nice work! Did you post a "how-to" in this or another forum?

Well, it's a pretty complex design, LOTs of compound-angle cuts. I used to sell plans that included full-size templates for each of the 20-some pieces and a detailed instruction manual. However once all the copies I had initially printed were sold, I decided it wasn't worth the effort & cost of doing that. So now I just build the boxes to suit, that way I have better quality-control over the final product = higher level of satisfaction for my customers.
