Cowl Shake???

Default Cowl Shake???

Well I sold the Z06 and am going to start concentrating on the vert. One reason I have not really modded it is because of the suspension and cowl shake.

It is pretty slight and happens more on smooth pavement then rough pavement. I have another set of tires I'm going to throw on there to see if its a bent wheel. I have Bilsteins, BMR springs that I need to put in. Is there a way to tighten this this up so it doesn't shake???

On smooth pavement for it to shake you would have to
have some kind of alignment, link-play or out-of-round
problem.

A shock tower brace settled down some shake on hard
cornering for me but you want to find the root of the
problem, as well as perhaps adding the STB (though
opinions vary on how useful it is, I know what mine did).

The first mod I did was put a STB on mine for that reason and it helped calm the cowl shake. I got from SLP.

Will a three way brace be better than a two across the struts?

just got some Kenny Brown SFC's installed on my 98 not too long ago, huge improvement in cowl shake. i'm probably going to fab my own STB, which i'm sure will help a little more, but i can live with it like it is now.

You should read the Handling & Braking section for many
more opinions.

If the 3-pt STB is in fact doing any actual work, it will be
putting the flex onto the lower part of the cowl which is
not very structurally robust; if -that- flexes, you are then
going to be trying to bend your windshield glass. That's
a-gonna hurt.

1) Good shocks. I notice my Bilsteins helped with general feel.
2) SFC. They helped a lot too, maybe more than the shocks.
3) 2 pt STB. Not a big help if you have done 1 & 2 but they are cheap and easy to install.
