Hard Top Wing on a Vert
I just wondered if anybody here has ever seen a vert with the hardtop wing. I really like the raised wing and think that it looks awesome but I've never seen a vert with it. I have a 2000 trans am and REALLY want to do it but I'm sure it'll be involved. Just wanted to see if anybody had any ideas. Thanks

i have plenty of ideas, but its more than just changeing out the wing.you will neeed to cut the wing in 3 pieces and also i think you are going to have to make a new deck lid. thats the basis.Plue you will have herdly any visiblity when the top is up, which was the main reason in making the wing the way it is.

holy triple post batman!!!lol
but i dont think it will work. the vert trunk is basically a firbird/formula decklid with the spoiler molded to it, while the TA spoiler can be removed. you cant just swap a TA spoiler onto yours unless you do some major custom fabbing.

Thanks guys. I just stopped by a local body guy's shop and talked to him about it. We looked at his hardtop ta and came to the conclusion you wouldn't be able to see anything at all out of the back. Thanks for the help, guess I'm back to the drawing board.

I actually bought the TA high rise spoiler to do this project... not really concerned about the visibility. It will definately require doing a custom deck lid (I wanted to find a used one to chop on) or doing major cutting on the TA spoiler.. I will try to get some pics of the spoiler sitting on top of the car just for people's reference. it's really a bad idea to be honest

See, when I took the wing and just set it on top of my rear deck lid I thought it looked a little funny just because the deck lid already has the "integral spoiler"... so it ends up looking like a double spoiler... so I'd like to see someone make a new deck lid that slopes down like the rear hatch on the coupes... then it won't look like a spoiler stacked on top of a spoiler... having a deck lid fabricated would solve the problem with visibility and it would make the body lines look better... and I bet it wouldn't cost me much more than the $1500 that ShowstoppaTransAm mentioned.
