16" Wheels on 1997 WS6 Convertible Stock?

16" Wheels on 1997 WS6 Convertible Stock? I think I've read before that some of the verts came with 16" wheels on the SLP/SS Camaros... and I know I've seen a set of 16" Firehawk wheels that the seller said came from a convertible. My 1997 TA is a WS6, has the correct RPO codes on the door sticker, but it also has 16" wheels.
When I bought the car I just assumed they were not the original wheels, but the strange thing is the tire size sticker on the door actually says 16 on it... I think it's 245/50/16 but I don't remember and I'm not with the car right now.
Anyway I've looked at other 97 WS6s (coupes) and they've got the 17s.. and I'm pretty sure that I've seen 97 WS6 verts with 17s. Could there be a reason why my car didn't come with them?

my buddy has a 97 ss vert and it came stock with 16's. in the little slp book that comes with the car it explains that that they put 16's on for a smoother ride.
so:
vert = 16"
coupe/t-top = 17"
so:
vert = 16"
coupe/t-top = 17"

'97 WS-6 Verts came with 16's only. I always thought it was strange. I almost bouth one in 97, it was red with white interior and top. But I heard about the changes coming in 98 and had to wait.
