convertible slower?

Default convertible slower?

is the convertible ss slower than a coupe?? coupe claims 0/60 in 5.2 and convertible claims 5.5 and 14's in quarter? Shed some light on me and give me some info on stock ss vert.. Peace

Convertibles are slightly slower due to the extra weight of our cars and aerodynamics in the higher speeds. Top down creates more air resistance which makes us slower as well, but that usually doesn't come into play until you get it over 100mph. I think that our cars weigh 130 pounds more than the coupe, not a lot but still enough to make us a little slower. Nothing some mods couldn't fix though. 14's for an LS1 convertible is kind of high though, I've read of some LS1 guy's here going 13.5 and better through the 1/4 mile in stock form. SS and Z28 are going to perform the same too, convertible or coupe.

I bought mine used, virtually stock, came with a borla, whisper lid, hood, and k&n, and consistent 13.4's, and it's the only time I've ever been to a drag strip. Oh and mine's an m6. So so much for the slow vert m6's ha. Slow is not a word to fit my car. For example, getting on the highway, I like to take the worst onramps and abuse the tires in one second ~20-60 mph romps - well it feels that fast anyway.

stock for stock 9 out of 10 times the vert will be a fraction slower due to the aforementioned weight disadvantage. The reason is because they design the vert with extra frame stiffeners to make up for the inherent lack of structural integrity from having no roof.

That sounds about right, my m6 I never tached it over 5500 to get 13.420 in my m6 vert z28

well i apreciate the kind words but in all reality, that was my first time ever driving at the 1/4, and i didnt take out any weight and had full pressure on my shitty fuzions! Most runs that day were in the 13.3-13.4 with a worst run(first ever) of 13.6.

i ran 13.46 stock and i weighed the car recently at 3686 with me in it at 200lbs.

I ran a 13.9 and my brother ran a 13.8 when i first got my ss. Had 42K with stock runflats.

i ran 13.501@105 stock with a 2.0 60ft. you guys that ran like 13.2 and are a4s must have got better than 2.0 60fts. or you wasnt 100% stock or have a decent freak.

9-10 times an auto 100% stock will run 13.4 to 13.6@102-105

Cutout, Catback, Lid, SSRA and SFCs and i ran 13.50 @ 103 on 2.13 60 ft...

i wish i could cut 13.3 or 13.2 but that seems all the car has in her

i am A4 3.23... and my 3rd gear is a dog

i really think 3.73s would make is a world of difference. when my car shifts into third it just falls out of the powerband and right as i am about to get into it again the race ends....

Don't need no stinkin 3.73's ~ All you need is the 3.42's out of the 6-speeds and that will get most automatics into the

my vert turned a 13 flat with the most terrible miss below 3k rpm lid/hood/lts/ory/catback/tune and 3.73 but the tune fell out with the mass air died so do the math 60ft was so terrible i dont even wanna talk about it

13.8 at 100MPH bone stock ~ 13.3 at 105MPH with SLP lid - K&N - Magnaflow muffler only - German Castrol 0w30weight Synthetic & 245/50/16's at Red River Raceway on their super sticky drag strip. They spray the starting line with the good stuff & man does it work !
