Default Lowering Advice

Here is my car - how much should I lower, what should I use to do so and how much would it cost do you think?

A search would provide you with plenty of info. That being said I have the eibach prokit springs (lowers 1.5in.) on koni single adjustable shocks. I love the setup. It works for me because I run the canyons. I can adjust for a stiff ride or a smoother ride, plus the setup looks killer. Plan on spending $1K for this setup and that's with you installing it all. Not a hard thing to do so don't be scared. There are plenty of other combinations out there but it comes down to what ride height, comfort, and level of performance you want.

Lowering springs would technically lower the car; however if you put lowering springs on stock shocks then you compromise the shocks. The stock shocks are not meant to be paired with lowering springs. This will lead to premature failure of the shocks. So it's best to put components that compliment each other.

and Koni's are the most expensive of the shocks for Fbodies.
If cost is something you want to keep down, Bilstein or KYB are your choices.
Eibach and Sam Strano (an LS1tech sponser ---> ) make great lowering springs for us.

Lowered mine 2 yrs ago with an LT1 prokit and revalved bilsteins from sam strano. I did not need an adjustable panhard bar. Once the springs settled there was only 1/8" difference. Check out the ride height sticky in the suspension & brakes forum.

Strano has a good set-up. I did revalved Bilsteins from SLP and Hotchkis 1" lowering springs and LOVE what it did for the ride & look (Strano sells this set-up it's just more customized)

Hell man, your car looks great just the way it is. Why would you want to destroy the ride I mean I can see installing some really good shocks like the KONI'S to improve the ride & handling but dropping one just for the looks is a hell of a trade off. Plus there are several down sides to lowering your ride & only one upside, looks and that's it.Just please know in advance all the possible negatives associated with this procedure . Talk to STRANO or someone who will tell you all the down sides of lowering before you go thru all the expense & hassel , & then be sorry you wasted all that money & not be happy with the results. In the end its what ever blows your dress up I guess . Good luck!

wow thats all i have to say about the way you have been responded to. obviously you do want to lower your car and maybe your not that 1k $ spender who runs the canyons. What i will tell you is you need to be careful with the rear. the prokit in the rear just didnt look good. it rode fine but the rear was to low...imo. right now i have bilstiens all around prokit in front and hose mod in rear. now if have more wheel well gap than intended with 315 series tires on a 35offset i may look into hard top rear springs with the hose mod. sorry for the rambel. or you could just call sam strano

I hated the 4x4 look of my last vert so I went with about a 1.75 drop. I did the Granatelli springs, Strano-prepped Bilsteins, LCA, LCA relocation brackets, panhard bar, STB and 35mm front sway bar. The difference in looks and ride were amazing BUT I trashed the nose and front air dam every time I went into my parking lot at work and home. I mean TRASHED!!. I don't think headers would ever fit underneath. If I had to do it again (I will with my new '00) I would get a set of springs with MUCH less drop (Hotchkis?) especially if you are running 18" wheels which fill up the well better. Talk to Strano first. Just my .02

PS your ride looks sweeeeet!

I'll be doing the same set up this weekend (SLP Bilstein revalves w/Hotchkis springs) but will keep stock rear springs and remove perch isolator to drop about 2/3 inch in the rear instead of full inch like in front.
I've just heard about too many lowering springs sagging in the rear.
