The switch on mine crapped out last year, one day she worked and the next day she didn't. Check it out, it's a much cheaper fix then a new pump.

BTW, mine took a dump at 25,xxx miles.

I'd take it back to the body shop that put the new top on and make them fix it. Short of that, verify the motor is getting power (listen for the motor when the button is pressed or measure the motor connector voltage when pressing the button both directions) to verify the switch is OK. Then check to make sure the bypass valve wasn't left open by the top installation shop (motor would work but top won't move), they may have opened it to allow them to move it manually............ since you are doing that, this is definately a possibility. Also check fluid level and check for leaks. Once air is in the system, top won't move or move very slowly. If the motor is getting power but not working, you'll need a new pump.

i already took the car back to the place it got painted, the top was not installed their, they took it to an upholstery shop to get it done. both of them are telling me the top didnt work when they got it. now i dont know if they are lying, but i doubt it. the guys at the body shop didnt touch the car UNTIL the top was installed, so the upholstery guys tell me it didnt work when they received it and thats why they opened up some valve(i guess its the one your talking about) to open it manually, which is what ive been doing.

now ive checked the motor to see if it makes noise when the switch was being pressed, and it did not make any noise at all. before that, the top was moving well and normally, not slow or anything like that.

It was the switch that took a dump.

Sorry about the motor and pump confusion, they are one and the same.
