Default Rollbar Advice

I would feel better about driving my 'vert if I had a rollbar installed. However, looking at a lot of pics on the site, I'd rather have only one bar that went across as opposed to one that also attached behind the rear seats, don't like that look. My questions are the following...

- Is it harder for passengers to get into the back?
- Is it a bolt or weld job?
- What kind of shop should I go to for this kind of work?
- About how much should I expect to pay for the rollbar itself and installation?

Nice, but they don't have a 2-point rollbar which is what I'm looking for. I don't want connectors in the back, only on the sides.

A two point would not have enough strength to offer any safety. It would just fold over. You could weld or bolt one in, but welding would be stronger. You would have to find a shop that specializes in roll bars/cages (tube bending/tig welding). If you don't want the rear bars you could at least tie into door bars for a little extra support.

I saw one I would have been down for but I cant figure out who makes it, I am kind of like you, I want one but I don't want to loose the usability, then again, I don't get into situations on purpose where I would be in a situation to need one per say...I drive slow for plenty of show...

I don't drive fast either, but nothing can stop a Ford Expedition from running a red light at 60 MPH and rolling my car over 6 times (happened to a friend in his 2003 Sebring convertible, 2-point rollbar saved his life, car was salvageable too).

Thats why you not only have to watch how you drive but how everyone else drives, but like you, a lil insurance would be a good thing...

My neighbor has a 2000 Cobra convertible with a 2-point rollbar which he says is fine for most types of rolls. His is bolted in. The place where he got his installed no longer exists, so I'm still kind of lost.

I thought it was metal inside. I read that it's a 1 1/4" steel tube with a 1/8" thickness covered in vinyl...

Those light bars do not add any structural support to the cars. They're for looks and added 'safety' of a high mount stop light. I think they look good on mustangs, but they dont flow with the lines of the F-bods too well.

RK sport made a 2pt rollbar.

IMO, I'd find a way to go 4 pt, even if you custom build the 3rd and 4th point further down on the main hoop below eye level. My 4 point allowed me to walk away from a bad side impact smack up.

If you go 2 pt; I'd take the rollbar through the floor and weld it into the subframe. That would survive a pretty decent side impact and not twist with the floor pan in a rollover. Having weld in subframe connectors also helps in a side impact if you hit a stationary object such as a pole.

2 point bars will do NOTHING in a ROLLOVER...NOTHING.
