houdini, i am drooling over the way your car sits... how does it ride with your suspension setup?

Firm but not jarring, responsive and planted. There is now some feeling (feedback) to what the car is doing, no more binding and squeaking with the old poly setup. Main reason for going all rod ended, was to get rid of the damn squeaks. I hated to keep greasing the damn things, never expected such a difference in the feel of the ride. Of course I changed everything all at once, so it could have been anything.

I only put about 3,000 - 5,000 miles a year on my T/A, and I dont mind changing rod ends every other year or so when they wear out. They could probably go a lot longer but when they start to make noise I'll swap them out... nothing so far, been dead quiet!

Old set up was...
Hotchkis springs
QA1 shocks
BMR control arms (boxed Poly)
BMR panhard bar (Double Adj. Poly)
LG swaybars
Stock TA
Stock K-member and A-arms

New set up...
Strano springs
Koni shocks (4th gen)
UMI control arms (Double adj. rod-ended)
UMI panhard bar (Double adj. rod-ended)
LG sway bars
BMR Extreme TA (Adj. rod-ended)
UMI Road Race K-member
UMI upper and lower A-arms

Take the time, like I did, and read thru the thread shown below, which will tell you more info than you care to know about f-bodies and wheels. And if you think its not vert specfic, one of the author's owns a z-vert.

I have lived in Slidell for the last 30 years.

NEW ORLEANS WILL NEVER BE THE SAME, EVER

The majority of the people that did not leave the state, moved north to the northshore, baton rouge, or picayune and above areas. Lately, a lil Fbody group has been meeting at the lakefront, but its dismal around there too. Checkout the southern section of this forum, listed under Slidell or LAKE FRONT meets...like

Yeah thats what i hear.... it is a shame. In living in NO for some time and going through andrew and whatnot. What happened was something that is almost unimaginable when you live there and it is hard to realize the impact that could have happened so many other times but didn't. I really feel for all you guys down there. I have put a few friends up a few times when they just wanted to get away from the daily deal down there. True times have been hard but yall will pull through it. Take er easy bra.

anything will fit with a little massaging done to the inner fender well with the LFH(litte f-ing hammer) Well almost anything. I run 285's on the rear of mine, had to do a tiny bit of massaging first though, not much. Getting ready to do some more massaging for my draglites when I get home too.....

My 315's fit fine after rolling the lip (just flush-flattening the inner lip at about top 6" or so).

with 17x11" ZR1 rims it weighs 52 pounds.
275's on 17x9.5" ZR1 rims weighed 50#.
245's on 16x8" stock rims weighted 45#.

315's can also be grabbed for $99/each.

This is not an unusal, excessively costly, or weight-limiting mod. For those of us with actual hp, bitching over 2# of rotational weight is pointless in comparison to traction gains. sure I could go back to Nittos or other drag radials in 275 width, but replacing those every year gets painful fast.

Besides... who DOESN'T dig 1'+ wide burnouts

To be fair however... I was thinking of using 245's on mustang rims as my snow tires. :p

I'm running 17/11 Fikse FM5's on koni 4/4's with strano springs and I don't have a bit of trouble. Even with no BFH'ing or fender rolling.

If you have great sticky tires, you don't NEED anything bigger/wider/heavier/more power-robbing than 275/40/17, which fit beautifully on a 9.5 rim, and will NEVER rub no matter how hard you corner... (unless lowered a lot without an adjustable panhard)

Guys with 275s are launching in the 1.2s.... are you there yet?
Do you WANT to go to a tire/wheel combo that costs you power?
Are you doing full on road race on fast courses, WITH the serious suspension parts, and STILL need more tire?
You realize that switching from a 17x9 rim with a 275/40/17 to a 17x11 w/ a 315/35/17 on a 450rwhp car is about the difference of 7rwhp.

It's pretty much negligable between two identical cars running those two different wheel/tire setups.
