Widest Rim u can put on a Vert?
WHY? Risk rubbing and damaging the tire, and spend a stupid amount on heavier rubber for what purpose?
If you have great sticky tires, you don't NEED anything bigger/wider/heavier/more power-robbing than 275/40/17, which fit beautifully on a 9.5 rim, and will NEVER rub no matter how hard you corner... (unless lowered a lot without an adjustable panhard)
Guys with 275s are launching in the 1.2s.... are you there yet?
Do you WANT to go to a tire/wheel combo that costs you power?
Are you doing full on road race on fast courses, WITH the serious suspension parts, and STILL need more tire?
No one needs larger rims but some people like the look. We all want to go faster but some prefer to sacrifice that a bit for looks.
I saved my stock 16's with DR's on them for when I wanna go to the track then throw on the pretty ones for when I'm cruisin or going to shows.

Unless you just love the smell of rubber as your tires scrape the fender and inner wheel well as you turn corners even at stock height and stock suspension.
But anyways yes there is alot of info in the stickies I agree.
Lowered 1" in front and approx 2/3 inch in back with spring perch mod.
You will need BFH, rolled fenders and APHB but not really too much work.
Yeah, you loose a little power, but looks so damn cool.
Absolutely no rubbing at all even with me (260lbs) and my buddy (270lbs) in the car.
I think with an offset closer to 45 mm and slightly offcentering the rear axle, no mods what so ever would be needed.
I did at one time run 57 mm offset 10.5" wheels and needed some very minor BFH.
Please advise, needs to be done before spring.

While you are under there, go stupid with the BFH and pound in the inner fender for some tire clearance. Use a smaller hammer if nessesary to make it look nice and flat after the BFH, then hit it with the wire wheel a bit, degrease and prep and then follow up with some rubberized under coating... almost forgot, cut those jounce bumpers in half vertical with the inner fender well (sawzall and grinder are your friends)!
Please steer clear of the bat/BFH mod for the fender lips, that method sucks the house down!

My rear wheels are 18"x11" (50mm BS) with 315's, and once the rear was centered with a adjustable panhard bar, I didn't have a whole lot of clearance either way in the fender well. In my opinion, if the back spacing on my wheels was 2-3mm different either way (in or out) I would have been screwed. I still ended up rubbing on corners, had to bust out the big hammer two times to fix the rubbing. On the second time around I just decided to go nuts and clearance them as far as they would go... I picked up a ton of room, and you would never be able to tell I worked them over.
The odds are you will rub a little, while you are under there just make the room for the tires. Go slow, work the inner fender with some care (dont just swing like a gorrilla) and you will be able to pick up over 1" of room for your tires. Do it once and do it right.
