I wouldnt, but thats me.....if your thinking about saving weight, why not a lightweight carpet?

I want it to be as lightweight as possible, yet look as stock as possible. I would like to leave the stock carpet in. Anyways, it does appear that this bar may be a structural piece. Or it could just be as thick as it is to provide stability for the rear seatbelts... The t-top/hard top cars to not have this bar...
