Default I need to get a roll bar (help please)

I know wolf is prolly my best bet but my question is what will be NHRA legel? Got to take my car down the new Zmax dragway in Charlotte, NC this weekend and damn it was something else. Guess I will be needing one now. Btw bolt in is hopefully legel. I can't do the weld thing since the car is so rare. Thanks for any help, here's some pics of the event if anyone is bored. The track is a 4 lane concrete pad.

I haven't looked to see if the 6 point rule finally made it in, but 5 point was the minimum. Have you looked at bolt-in installations? I welded mine in and seems to me that you will still be adding plates and cutting the carpet to do a bolt-in.

FWIW, I powder coated mine to match the car color (white). A SOM bar might look almsot look factory if you want something other than black.

I looked at the pictures. Is that you with the top down and no helmet on? I'm stunned they let you race like that.

i had a buddy that had a wolfe bolt in cage for his vert and he accidentally ended up cutting his brake line during the installation so he always advises me to get a weld in one.. but i still may try to get a bolt on one

Rare car or not you're going to be drilling tons of holes in your floorboards, why not just opt for the stronger weld in? It's just like SFCs, they're eventually going to elongate bolt holes and cause problems?

Well one, it's not an everyday driver for one thing and two, bolt holes can be fixed pretty easy compared to chipping away at old welds if it's removed in my opinion. I have bolt in SFC's and their working fine with no problems. I'd rather have something that can be taken off without any hassle that's the reason for the bolt in being it's a super rare car.

There are only two bolts holding that roll bar in?! What's the point?

Meh, it's your car so do with it, which pleases you but it doesn't seem beneficial to bolt a roll bar in with only two bolts. Heck it doesn't seem right to even bolt a bar in, in the first place. The point of the bar to me is structural rigidity which is negated if it's relying on a couple bolts.

Rare car or not my '91 TA 'vert is getting a weld in 8 pt next weekend. Just my $.02

Why would they make bolt in roll bars if they were didn't hold up? Wolf makes the best around and that's what I will go with. Ask these guys on the vert forums, some have weld in some have bolt in. Welds may be better far as tightening down the car more but all I'm doing it for is so I can run at the track.

Only 2 bolts per side?? That's not much. I would have guessed 4 per side for the main hoop.

You don't need to remove the old weld plates if you put the car back to stock. They will be covered by the carpet (which has to be replaced since it now has holes in it). It will be a bit of a hassle to cut off the main hoop if you do a weld in.

I'm not saying they don't hold up at all. I'm sure they do. They are insanely popular after all. Just like bolt in SFCs hold up.

And justifying somethings merit by saying "If they make it, it's going to work perfectly!" is probably not the best mindset.
