Default New Clutch?

Hey guys, this is my first post on here after actually owning a z06. I picked it up today. It's black with AFR 205 heads, 232/236 cam, and LT exhaust. Everything is awesome, but since I have been giving so many people rides with some spirited driving the clutch pedal started sticking to the floor. The first time I didn't know what to do so I sat through 2 stoplight cycles trying to get it in gear. Then I realized I could pull it up with my toe and got it.

I searched and it seems this is a pretty common problem, but being a newb I don't really know what to do. With these mods should I start looking at a new clutch? Which one?

Thanks, and I gotta say I love the Z06 way more than my brothers pullied 03 cobra in every way (except low end torque and blower whine lol).

Oh yeah. i'm going to be looking at a fast and a tb soon too. Maybe a small shot after that but probably not, so whatever clutch you reccommend should be able to hold the 550rwhp or so.

It's not a problem with your clutch. It is a problem with the hydarulics. Doing the drill mod and changing your clutch fluid should fix the problem. As far as what clutch will handle 500 hp at the wheels there are alot of them out there. It all depends on what you want to pay and what you expect for that money. I run a mcloed twin disk in my T/A and love it.

I found the sticky in the other forum for the sticky clutch problems. I'll use taht and see what happens. I guess the quesiton is still out about the clutch though. How much would i be looking at for a clutch + install too? Am I pushing my clutch with 440rwhp and 26k miles?

Again that all depends on what kind of clutch you want to run. You are looking at anywhere from $500 to $1500 for just the clutch pressure plate and flywheel. While you have the clutch out it is a good idea to change the slave cyl as well. I don't know what someone would charge to put it in. My guess would be $200 to $500 for the install.

I'm in the exact situation as far as clutch and power, and there is no cure, and nobody has been happy with just one clutch. Popular clutches seem to be the LS7, Textralia, Spec, McCleod, RPS, Centerforce, etc.... All have their problems from chatter, to tough pedal feel, etc. etc.. I do agree part of the problem is the hydraulics, but at your power level, you're about at your stock clutchs' max. I've looked for over a year and still haven't found one everyones happy with. Unfortunately labor normally runs 600-1000. They charge us more for owning vettes.

I decided on the Textrailia OZ700 after doing a bunch of research. I am not sure how soon I need to do it becasue I started using the ranger method of clutch fluid changes today and it already seems to be helping with the sticky pedal. I'm sure I'll need one soon though. It's a new car to me so I've been beating on it pretty good for the last week.

Im going to suggest replacing the slave while your there, im not sure if its included with the textrailia kit or not. Also do some research on adjustable master cylinders. If you cant get the clutch to fully disengage on a shift, you will wear your transmission prematurely. That will be costly.

On a side note, i have a textrailia on my fbody and love it still after 25k miles. Its a great clutch.

I knew about the slave, but how can I tell if I need an adjustable master? My car only has 25k on it and I haven't really noticed anything except how the clutch pedal sticks hafl way up sometimes. It feels like it's disengaging all the way...

thats probably something you wouldnt be able to tell untill you install the new clutch. If its hard to shift at high rpm's, then you need to make a change.
