Budget C6 Exhaust? Is it possible?
Hey just recently got a 06' C6 coupe with the 6 speed manual, and love the car but its just too quiet. What can I do to fix this without breaking the bank? I love the sound of the Borla Stingers but can't justify $1000 - any other options?

I went with SLP LoudMouth 2 system, was on sale via SLP for just over $500, great sound IMO and much improvement over stocker sound. Shaves a few pounds too. Easy install for DIYer.

iv heard not to do the cutout rout...its sounds like an empty rhasp to me.
I bought the SLP loudmouths 1 (mufflers only) and the guy at the exhaust shop custom welded them in.
$150 for the weld. Sounds GREAT...i hated the stock sound. now it growls
but not too loud either...i was surprised i thought it was gonna be crazy loud...but wasnt as loud as my ws6...but i had the cats gutted
not doin that to the vette...........yet lol

Personally I feel that you get what you pay for when it comes to Corvette Exhaust. I paid ~$950 shipped for my catback(GHL Bullets) and receive compliments daily. Everyone that hears it is amazed to find out that the car only has a catback, and still retains stock cats and exhaust manifolds. The BEST part of it though, is that there is ZERO drone at any speed or RPM. I can have a quiet conversation in the car at highway speeds without issue. For that reason alone I think the price is justified.

Why buy new? It's just metal, buy used and shine it up..
Go to the classified section of corvetteforum.com
Tons of guys selling their parts before they dump their cars... nice deals.
You can get what you want for 40% ~ 60% cheaper than new.

Have you looked at picking up a used Z06 exhaust? you can get the controller for the butterfly valve for about $100 and have a lot of control over when it opens. Kinda similar to cut-outs but the sound is not exactly the same since it passes through the full length of the exhaust.
LOL, that brings new meaning to the "drill mod"
I think a drill liberally applied to the mufflers would fall int eh category of budget exhaust
